PORTAGEVILLE SCHOOL DISTRICT SWITCHING TO REMOTE LEARNING
The Portageville School District will be switching to remote learning for the next few weeks due to concerns over the coronavirus.
According to officials with the school board, the announcement was made during a meeting on Thursday, where it was decided that all schools in the district will be moving to virtual learning starting today.
The remote learning will continue until November 20th, and officials with the school district will continue to monitor the situation.
FREE COVID-19 TESTING SITE TO OPEN IN STODDARD COUNTY NEXT WEEK
There will be a COVID-19 testing site held in Stoddard County next week.
According to the Stoddard County Health Department, the County’s health center will be hosting a coronavirus drive-through testing site.
The site will be held at the Lighthouse Church at 18555 Lighthouse Drive in Dexter on November 13th, from 11 am to 5 pm. The event will be free to all Missouri residents.

WOMAN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY IN DUNKLIN COUNTY ON DRUG POSSESSION AND DISTRIBUTION CHARGES
A woman was arrested in Dunklin County on Thursday for drug distribution and possession.
According to the Dunklin County Sheriff’s Department, 47 year old Sandra Gattis, of Gibson, was taken into custody on a felony warrant and a felony charge for distributing a controlled substance, a felony offense for possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine, two counts on felony possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of synthetic marijuana.
She was transported to the Dunklin County Jail following her arrest, with no bond.
POPLAR BLUFF MAN CHARGED WITH MULTIPLE DRUG RELATED CHARGES IN BUTLER COUNTY
A local man was taken into custody in Butler County on Thursday on several drug related charges.
According to the Butler County Sheriff’s Department, 27 year old Jonathan Davis was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of less than 10 grams of marijuana.
Following his arrest, he was transported to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.
ADDITIONAL CASES OF COVID-19 REPORTED THROUGHOUT SOUTHEAST MISSOURI; STATE TOTAL OVER 196,000
More cases of the coronavirus have been reported across Southeast Missouri, while the state total has risen past 196,000.
According to the Butler County Health Department, 51 cases of the virus were reported on Thursday, raising the County’s total cases to 1,812. Of them, 316 are currently active, while 1,496 are out of isolation, and 6 are hospitalized.
Stoddard County has reported 24 new cases, bringing the County’s total to 1,254. Of them, 189 are active, and 1,039 have recovered. Dunklin County now stands at 1,556 confirmed cases. Of these, 1,404 have recovered, and 140 are still active.
According to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, as of Thursday, there are 196,576 cases of the virus in the state, while 3,106 deaths have been directly linked to the disease.
ROADWAY IN PEMISCOT COUNTY SCHEDULED FOR REDUCTION FOR BRIDGE REPAIRS
A roadway in Pemiscot County will be reduced next week while undergoing repairs.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, a section of North and Southbound Interstate 55, from mile marker 18 to mile marker 20 near Hayti, will be reduced to one lane with a 13-foot width restriction while MODOT crews perform bridge repairs.
The work is set to begin on November 16th, and will continue throughout December 4th.
