POPLAR BLUFF MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO DRUG DISTRIBUTION


A Poplar Bluff man faces time in prison after he pleaded guilty to drug distribution charges.

According to the Butler County Sheriff’s Department, Marvin Price Sr. was charged after he pleaded guilty to two felony charges on distribution of heroin, after an investigation was made by members of the Poplar Bluff Police Department and SEMO Drug Task Force in September and November of 2018.

During the investigation, a controlled purchase was performed, in which an individual working with authorities purchased around $1,400 worth of a controlled substance from Price, which was later identified to be heroin and Fentanyl.

Price has a sentencing set for March 8th, where he faces up to 20 years in prison on both charges.


SIX INJURED FROM VEHICLE COLLISION IN RIPLEY COUNTY


Six people were injured from a vehicle crash in Ripley County on Thursday.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the collision happened on Highway 160, east of Doniphan, where a vehicle was struck in the rear by another car while it was stopped to make a left turn.

The driver, as well as four occupants of the struck vehicle, suffered minor injuries from the crash, while the driver of the oncoming vehicle received moderate injuries. They were all transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital for treatment.


ROADWAY IN DUNKLIN COUNTY SCHEDULED FOR REDUCTION DURING BRIDGE REPAIRS


A roadway in Dunklin County will be reduced while bridge repairs are underway.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, a section of Route BB, from Route B in Dunklin County, to County Road 559 in Arkansas, will be reduced to one lane while MODOT crews repair the bridge over the St. Francis River.

The work will start on Monday at 7 am, and will continue throughout Wednesday, from 7 am to 4 pm daily.


RIVER RADIO LIGHTED CHRISTMAS PARADE SET FOR TONIGHT


Parade lights will be shining bright tonight in Downtown Poplar Bluff during the 2020 River Radio Lighted Christmas Parade.

Lineup will begin at 5:45 pm at the Hydro Adventures parking with the parade starting at 6:30 pm.

The parade route will run from Highway 142 at McDonald’s through downtown Poplar Bluff before ending back at the Black River Coliseum.


ARREST MADE IN NEW MADRID COUNTY ON SEVERAL DRUG RELATED CHARGES


An arrest was made in New Madrid County on Thursday on several drug related charges.

According to the New Madrid County Sheriff’s Department, 34 year old Nichole Hydle, of Lilbourn, was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and LSD, as well as possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

She was also charged with the felony offense of endangering the welfare of a child.

Following her arrest, she was transported to the New Madrid County Jail.


VEHICLE FIRE REPORTED ON ROADWAY IN PEMISCOT COUNTY


Hayti Fire Department crews responded to a vehicle fire on a roadway in Pemiscot County on Thursday.

According to officials with the department, the fire was reported at 5 pm on Interstate 55, near mile marker 16, where a vehicle caught fire while it was being pulled by a wrecker out of Memphis. The vehicle was fully engulfed by the time firefighter crews arrived at the scene, and was destroyed by the flames.

Both passengers were able to get out of the car, and were not injured. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
