HOME HEAVILY DAMAGED BY FIRE IN DUNKLIN COUNTY


A home was heavily damaged by a fire in Dunklin County on Friday.

According to the Kennett Fire Department, firefighter crews responded to a call of a structure fire on King Street, where the home was heavily engulfed by the time officials arrived at the scene. The occupants were able to escape before being injured, however the home suffered major damage, and most of the interior was destroyed.

The cause of the fire was reported to be a space heater that was left on in a bedroom at the back of the house.


HOLCOMB MAN ARRESTED IN DUNKLIN COUNTY ON METHAMPHETAMINE CHARGE


A Holcomb man was taken into custody in Dunklin County on Friday a methamphetamine charge.

According to the Dunklin County Sheriff’s Department, 48 year old Brandon Lesslie was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine, as well as four counts of felony possession of drug paraphernalia.

Following his arrest, he was transported to the Dunklin County Jail.


EARTHQUAKES REPORTED IN NEW MADRID AND RIPLEY COUNTIES


Earthquakes were reported in New Madrid County and Ripley Counties early Friday morning.

According to the US Geological Survey, the first quake was reported north of Doniphan in Ripley County. It struck around 12:40 am, and registered at a magnitude of 2.7, with a depth of about a mile.

The second was recorded near Howardville in New Madrid, and hit at 2:30 am. It registered with a magnitude of 2.1, and had a depth of around a mile.


MAN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY IN NEW MADRID COUNTY ON DRUG POSSESSION OFFENSES


A man was taken into custody in New Madrid County on Friday on a drug possession charge.

According to the New Madrid County Sheriff’s Department, 62 year old Bartolo Resto, of Indianapolis, Indiana, was arrested on a felony charge on delivery of a controlled substance – except 35 grams or less of marijuana or synthetic cannabinoid.

He was transported to the New Madrid County Jail following his arrest.


DRIVER INJURED FOLLOWING VEHICLE COLLISION IN NEW MADRID COUNTY


A driver suffered moderate injuries after two vehicles collided in New Madrid County on Friday.

According to officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the collision happened on Missouri 153, at County Road 524 near Parma, where a vehicle was struck after it crossed the roadway and into the immediate path of another oncoming car.

Following the crash, the driver was transported to a hospital in Dexter for treatment.


ROADWAYS IN DUNKLIN AND RIPLEY COUNTIES SCHEDULED FOR REPAIRS


Roadways in Dunklin and Ripley Counties are scheduled for various repairs.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, a section of Route NN in Dunklin County, from US Route 412 to Missouri Route 164, will be reduced to one lane while MODOT crews perform edge rut repairs. The work will start today, and will continue through Friday, from 7 am to 3:30 pm daily.

In Ripley County, a section of Route K, located south of County Road K-4, will be closed while MODOT crews replace a culvert underneath the roadway. The work is scheduled to take place today, from 8 am to 2 pm.
