JUVENILE DROWNING VICTIM REPORTED IN BUTLER COUNTY
A drowning victim was reported in Butler County on Thursday.
According to Butler County Coroner Andy Moore, the body was found in the Black River, near Hendrickson Park, after the young swimmer attempted to swim to an island across the river channel, before he began to struggle, and did not resurface after he submerged.
Moore went on to state that out of respect to the privacy of the family, no personal information about the victim, or the circumstances of the situation, will be released.
SIXTH RESIDENT OF DEXTER NURSING HOME HAS DIED
A sixth resident from the Crowley Ridge Nursing Home in Dexter, who previously tested positive for the COVID-19 virus, has passed away.
According to officials with the Stoddard County Health Department, though the patient had previously tested positive for the virus, the cause of death is currently undetermined.
No personal information about the residents will be released at this time.
INJURIES REPORTED FOLLOWING VEHICLE COLLISIONS REPORTED IN BUTLER COUNTY
Two were injured following a vehicle collision in Butler County on Thursday.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a vehicle was traveling down US 67 Southbound, south of US 160, where it struck another car in the rear as it was traveling.
The driver of the first vehicle received minor injuries, while the driver of the struck vehicle was seriously injured following the crash. They were both transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital for treatment.
THREE ADDITIONAL CASES OF COVID-19 REPORTED IN BUTLER COUNTY; MISSOURI TOTAL CONTINUES TO RISE
More cases of the coronavirus have been reported in Butler County.
According to the Butler County Health Department, three additional cases have been reported since Thursday, raising the County’s total cases to 45. The patients have been quarantined, and the department will contact anyone who may have been exposed to the virus while the patients were active.
In Missouri, as of Thursday, there have been a total of 14,057 cases of the COVID-19 virus in the state, and 789 deaths have been directly linked to the disease.
Anyone showing symptoms of the virus, including shortness of breath, fever, or persistent coughing, is advised to contact your primary healthcare provider before visiting any emergency or hospital rooms.
AUTHORITIES IN PARAGOULD INVESTIGATING TWO DEATHS
Updating a story we brought to you yesterday, two deaths reported in Greene County have been identified.
According to Sheriff Steve Franks, authorities in Paragould responded to a call on Tuesday on the 1100 block of Greene Road 714, where 36 year old Lindsey Downing, and her husband, 37 year old James Downing, were found dead with gunshot wounds.
The investigation into their deaths found evidence that a domestic dispute took place, where Mr. Downing shot and killed Mrs. Downing, before taking his own life with the firearm.
An autopsy has been scheduled for the bodies, and the investigation is being forwarded to prosecutors for review.
MAN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY IN WAYNE COUNTY ON DRUG RELATED CHARGES
A Piedmont man was arrested in Wayne County on Thursday on drug related charges.
According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, 42 year old James Girard was taken into custody on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine, as well as a charge of unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.
Following his arrest, he was transported to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
