MALDEN MAN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY IN DUNKLIN COUNTY FOLLOWING SHOOTING

A Malden man was arrested in Dunklin County on weapon and assault charges.

According to the Dunklin County Sheriff’s Department, 66 year old Perry Handy was charged with two counts of 1st degree assault, three counts of armed criminal action, 1st degree assault, and unlawful use of a weapon. He was also charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

These charges stem from an investigation made by the Dunklin County Sheriff’s Department, after a shooting was reported in the 40000 block of State Highway 25, where two people had been shot.

Handy was found inside a shed at the home alongside two children, where he fired a shotgun at an officer when asked to leave the structure.

He was later taken into custody at the Dunklin County Jail with no bond. The investigation into the shooting is currently ongoing.

INJURIES REPORTED IN VEHICLE COLLISION IN STODDARD COUNTY

Injuries were reported in Stoddard County after two vehicles collided on Monday.

Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that a vehicle was turning right on US 60, west of Dudley, where it was struck in the rear by another oncoming car. The vehicle then travelled through the median, and overturned.

The driver was moderately injured in the collision, and was transported to a hospital in Cape Girardeau for treatment.

SMALL EARTHQUAKE REPORTED IN PEMISCOT COUNTY


An earthquake was reported in a city in Pemiscot County on Monday.

According to the United States Geological Survey, the quake was reported early Monday morning, and was recorded about 4 miles north of Steele. It had a depth of around 5 miles.

The earthquake registered at a magnitude of 2.6.

MORE CASES OF COVID-19 REPORTED IN BUTLER COUNTY; MISSOURI CASES CONTINUE TO RISE

Additional cases of the coronavirus were reported in Butler County, while the total cases in Missouri have continued to rise.

According to the Butler County Health Department, three new cases were reported on Monday, raising the County’s total cases to 303. The patients have been placed under quarantine, and the CDC will be working with the department to contact anyone who may have been exposed to the virus while the patients were active and infectious.

In Missouri, as of Monday, there are a total of 68,760 confirmed cases of the virus in the state, and 1,454 deaths have been directly linked to the disease.

MINOR INJURED FOLLOWING BUTLER COUNTY VEHICLE COLLISION

A child was injured in a vehicle crash in Butler County on Monday.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the collision happened on County Road 607, east of Poplar Bluff, where a vehicle struck another traveling car in the front left corner.

The young occupant suffered minor injuries from the incident, and was transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital for treatment.

ROADWAY IN WAYNE COUNTY SCHEDULED TO CLOSE WHILE UNDERGOING REPAIRS

A roadway in Wayne County will be closed while undergoing repairs.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, a section of Route N, located about 4 miles from Route 34 near Patterson, will be closed while MODOT crews replace a culvert underneath the roadway.

The work will begin today at 8 am, and is expected to be completed by 1 pm.
