TWO SEPARATE FIRE INCIDENTS REPORTED IN DUNKLIN COUNTY
Officials responded to two fires that were reported in Dunklin County on Wednesday.
According to the Kennett Fire Department, the first flame was a structure fire on 6th street, where the house was engulfed with flames and heavy smoke by the time firefighters arrived at the scene. The occupants of the home were not inside at the time of the fire.
The second fire was reported at a fully engulfed trailer inside city limits, where cardboard boxes were found ignited. An investigation into this incident is currently ongoing.
MAN ARRESTED IN STODDARD COUNTY ON BURGLARY CHARGES
A man was taken into custody in Stoddard County on burglary charges.
According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, 26 year old Zachary Swoboda, of Dexter, was booked on 2nd degree Burglary, stealing, and 2nd degree property damage.
Following his arrest, he was transported to the Stoddard County Jail.
SERIOUS INJURIES REPORTED FOLLOWING VEHICLE CRASH IN NEW MADRID COUNTY
Serious injuries were reported following a vehicle crash in New Madrid County.
Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that a vehicle was traveling down US Highway 61, south of Sikeston, where it struck a ditch and overturned.
Following the crash, the driver was transported to a Cape Girardeau hospital for treatment.
ADDITIONAL CASE OF COVID-19 REPORTED IN BUTLER COUNTY, MISSOURI TOTAL NOW OVER 78,000
An additional case of the coronavirus was reported in Butler County, while the Missouri total has reached over 78,000.
According to the Butler County Health Department, the additional case has brought the County’s total to 353 cases. The patient has been put under self-isolation, and the department will be working with the CDC to contact anyone who may have been exposed to the virus while the patient was active and infectious.
In Missouri, as of Tuesday, the state’s total cases has reached 78,154, and 1,552 deaths in Missouri have been directly linked to the disease.

TWO DRIVERS INJURED IN VEHICLE COLLISION IN PEMISCOT COUNTY
Two drivers were injured in a vehicle collision in Pemiscot County on Tuesday.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident took place on US 412, west of Hayti, where a vehicle struck another oncoming vehicle in the rear.
The driver of the first vehicle suffered serious injuries and was flown to a Memphis hospital, and the driver of the struck vehicle was transported to a Cape Girardeau hospital for treatment.
ROADWAY IN NEW MADRID COUNTY SCHEDULED FOR REDUCTION DURING REPAIRS
A roadway in New Madrid County will be reduced while undergoing repairs.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, north and southbound Interstate 55, from mile marker 32 at Portageville, to marker 45 in New Madrid, will be reduced while several projects are underway, including pavement repairs.
The work is scheduled to begin today, and is expected to be completed by September 3rd.
