VAN BUREN POLICE DEPARTMENT INVESTIGATION SHOOTING INCIDENT
Officials with the Van Buren Police Department are currently investigating a shooting report that took place on Sunday.
According to the Department, an unnamed 31 year old man from Dexter was shot at a campground within city limits, and was transported to a St. Louis hospital in serious condition.
The shooter has been identified as a member of his own party, and an accidental shooting has not been ruled out by the department. The incident is currently under investigation.
ADDITIONAL CASES OF COVID-19 REPORTED IN BUTLER COUNTY; MISSOURI TOTAL NOW OVER 85,000
Fourteen additional cases of the coronavirus were reported in Butler County, while Missouri’s total has risen past 85,000.
According to the Butler County Health Department, the County’s total cases now stands at 386. The additional patients have been placed under self-isolation, and the department will be working with the CDC to contact anyone who may have been exposed to the virus while the patients were active and infectious.
In Missouri, as of Sunday, there are now 85,076 total cases in the state, and 1,615 deaths have been directly linked to the disease.

THREE JUVENILES AND TWO ADULTS INJURED IN NEW MADRID COUNTY VEHICLE COLLISION
Three Juveniles and two adults were injured following a vehicle collision in New Madrid County on Saturday.
According to officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident happened on US 61 at US 62, where a vehicle pulled into the path of another oncoming car, and was struck.
Three juveniles suffered minor injuries, while an occupant of the same vehicle was moderately injured. The driver of the oncoming car suffered moderate injuries. They were all transported to a hospital in Sikeston for treatment.
SHOOTING CURRENTLY UNDER INVESTIGATION IN POPLAR BLUFF
An arrest has been made after a shooting was reported at a local restaurant in Poplar Bluff on Friday.
Officials with the Poplar Bluff Police Department tell KWOC News that an unnamed suspect was taken into custody after four black males were seen stopped in the street by the restaurant, yelling at a patron before gunfire was exchanged.
Police Chief Danny Whiteley reported that the public is not considered to be in danger, as the suspects involved were only firing at each other.
No injuries were reported, however multiple shots were fired. The suspect was interviewed by the department, and the investigation into the shooting is currently ongoing.
PORTAGEVILLE WOMAN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY IN NEW MADRID ON METHAMPHETAMINE POSSESSION
A Portageville woman was arrested on drug possession charges on Sunday.
According to the New Madrid County Sheriff’s Department, 31 year old Jamie Hayes was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance – except 35 grams or less or marijuana, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
She was also charged with multiple felony counts in relation to motor vehicle licenses and operations, and was transported to the New Madrid County Jail following her arrest.
DRIVER SERIOUSLY INJURED IN VEHICLE CRASH IN RIPLEY COUNTY
Serious injuries were reported from a vehicle crash in Ripley County on Saturday.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash took place when a vehicle ran off the right side of Route JJ, south of Fairdealing, where it overcorrected and ran off the left side of the roadway, causing it to strike a ditch and overturn.
Following the crash, the driver was transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital for treatment.
