PEDESTRIAN KILLED AFTER BEING STRUCK BY VEHICLE IN BUTLER COUNTY

A pedestrian was killed after a vehicle struck him in Butler County on Sunday.

Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that the incident took place on Highway 51, south of Fisk, where a vehicle struck 56 year old Steven Sherwood, of Fisk, while he was walking in the roadway.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

HOLLAND MAN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY IN PEMISCOT COUNTY ON MULTIPLE FELONY CHARGES

A Holland man was arrested in Pemiscot County on Sunday on multiple felony charges.

According to the Pemiscot County Sheriff’s Department, 42 year old Johnny Phillips was taken into custody on several felony warrants out of Pemiscot county, including assault, delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, and dangerous drugs.

He was also charged with felony possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Following his arrest, he was transported to the Pemiscot County Sheriff’s Office, with no bond.

ROADWAY IN STODDARD COUNTY SCHEDULED FOR REDUCTION FOR REPAIRS

A roadway in Stoddard County will be reduced while undergoing pavement repairs.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, a section of Westbound Route 60, between Route FF in Essex, to Route F in Dudley, will be reduced to one lane with a 16-foot width restriction while contractor crews perform pavement repairs on the roadway.

The work is set to begin today at 7 am, and will continue until November 17th.

FATALITY REPORTED FROM VEHICLE CRASH IN DUNKLIN COUNTY

A fatality was reported after a vehicle crashed in Dunklin County on Friday.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened on Missouri 25, south of Clarkton, where a vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway and ejected the driver.

The driver of the vehicle, 28 year old Jacob Elliott, of Kennett, was pronounced dead at the scene.

DUDLEY MAN ARRESTED IN STODDARD COUNTY ON SODOMY CHARGE

A Dudley man was taken into custody in Stoddard County on Friday on sodomy related charges.

According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, 38 year old Robert Szerszynski Jr. was booked on Statutory Sodomy or Attempted Statutory Sodomy – Deviate Sexual Intercourse with a person less than 12 years of age.

He was transported to the Stoddard County Jail following his arrest, with no bond.

MILD EARTHQUAKE REPORTED IN NEW MADRID COUNTY

A mild earthquake was reported in New Madrid County on Saturday.

According to the United States Geological Survey, the quake struck about 4 miles southeast of New Madrid, with a depth of around 3 miles.

The quake registered with a magnitude of 2.0.
