POPLAR BLUFF POLICE DEPARTMENT SEARCHING FOR ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS
The Poplar Bluff Police Department is currently searching for suspects involved in a local armed robbery on Saturday.
Officials with the Poplar Bluff Police Department tell KWOC News that two white males, wearing sweatshirts and face-masks, entered a local business on 1006 South Westwood Boulevard, at 6:30 pm on Saturday.
After entering the store, one of the suspects pulled a handgun, and held the owner of the business at gunpoint. The owner was the only person present in the business at the time.
After stealing an unknown amount of money, the two fled the scene by vehicle. Authorities are currently searching through surveillance footage to find details on the suspects.

ONE DEAD, TWO INJURED FOLLOWING VEHICLE CRASH IN STODDARD COUNTY
One death, and two injuries were reported following a vehicle crash in Stoddard County on Friday.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash took place at 5:55 pm, on County Road 651, southwest of Dexter. The crash occurred when a vehicle ran off the left side of the roadway and over-corrected, then overturned.
The Juvenile driver and 17 year old Matthew Dowdy, of Dexter, both suffered moderate injuries from the crash, and were transported to a Cape Girardeau hospital for treatment.
17 year old occupant Brett Warren, of Dexter, was pronounced dead at the scene.
TWO ARRESTED IN NEW MADRID COUNTY ON DRUG DELIVERY
Two arrests were made in New Madrid County on Friday for drug delivery.
According to the New Madrid County Sheriff’s Department, 21 year old Deondra Johnson, of Portageville, and 22 year old Jeremy Anderson, of Lilbourn, were both taken into custody on a felony charge on delivery of a controlled substance – Ecstasy.
Following their arrests, they were both transported to the Sikeston Department of Public Safety.
BERNIE MAN CHARGED WITH ABANDONMENT OF A CORPSE FOLLOWING PSYCHIATRIC EXAMINATION
Updating a story we brought to you previously, a Bernie man has been charged with abandonment of a corpse after a psychiatric examination found he was competent to proceed.
According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, 51 year old Corey Gill was charged with the felony offense of abandonment of a corpse, after he underwent a psychiatric examination on the issue of criminal responsibility.
The charge stems from an incident in November of 2018, where Gill was accused of purposely moving and abandoning the body of 38 year old Holly Kirkman, who had been reported missing earlier that month.
Authorities say she reportedly died from a drug overdose.
Gill was accused of leaving her body in the trunk of her own car at 510 Walter Avenue without notifying authorities. However, his trial was postponed when he was found incompetent to proceed what he had done.
The most recent examination performed by the Missouri Department of Mental Health found that Gill is mentally fit to proceed, and his case will continue as planned.
DEXTER MAN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY IN STODDARD COUNTY ON ASSAULT CHARGE
A Dexter man was taken into custody in Stoddard County on Sunday for assault.
According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, 63 year old Randy Hopkins was booked on a Stoddard County Warrant for 2nd degree assault.
He was transported to the Stoddard County Jail following his arrest, with no bond.
ROADWAY IN PEMISCOT COUNTY SCHEDULED FOR REDUCTIONS DURING REPAIRS
A roadway in Pemiscot County will be reduced today while repairs are underway.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, a section of Southbound Interstate 55, at mile marker 16.8 near Hayti, will be reduced with a 13-foot width restriction while MODOT crews perform pavement repairs.
The work will begin today, and is expected to be completed on Wednesday.
