TWO SUSPECTS WANTED FOR ROBBERY TAKEN INTO CUSTODY IN POPLAR BLUFF


Two men who were wanted for a robbery in Poplar Bluff over the weekend have been taken into custody.

According to the Poplar Bluff Police Department, 32 year old Nathan Murray and 31 year old Nicholas Barton, both of Campbell, were identified and placed under arrest at 12:30 pm in Campbell for a robbery at a local business on Saturday.

The robbery took place around 6:30 pm on Saturday, where officers responded to a robbery at a business in the 1000 block of South Westwood Boulevard. The owner was held at gunpoint by the two, and was forced to give them an undisclosed amount of money from the register.


GOVERNOR, ATTORNEY GENERAL, TREASURER POSITIONS IN MISSOURI SWORN IN


There were several positions in Missouri that were sworn in on Monday.

At the 2021 Bicentennial Inauguration, Mike Parson was sworn in as the 57th Governor of Missouri. General Eric Schmitt, who has served as the state’s Attorney General since January of 2019, was sworn in as Missouri’s 43rd Attorney General.

He has also served as Missouri’s senator and state treasurer.

Scott Fitzpatrick was also sworn in on Monday during the inauguration, and will be serving a four-year term as State Treasurer.


POPLAR BLUFF MAN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY IN BUTLER COUNTY ON MULTIPLE FELONY WARRANTS


A Poplar Bluff man was arrested in Butler County on Monday on multiple felony warrants.

According to the Butler County Sheriff’s Department, 51 year old Richard Holden was taken into custody on several warrants out of Butler County, including: assault, resisting arrest, resisting an officer, and marijuana possession.

He also faces a warrant on possession of a controlled substance.

Following his arrest, Holden was transported to the Butler County Jail.


NEW MADRID COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT SEARCHING FOR MISSING MAN


The New Madrid County Sheriff’s Department is seeking the public’s help in locating a missing person.

According to the department, 33 year old Butch Swofford was last seen in Portageville on November 25th of 2020. He is described as a white male, 5’8 in height, 155 lbs, with green eyes and brown hair. A picture of him is available at the New Madrid County Sheriff’s Department Facebook page.

TWO DEATHS REPORTED FOLLOWING HOUSE FIRE IN PARAGOULD


Two deaths were reported from a structure fire in Paragould on Sunday.

According to the Paragould Fire Department, crews responded to a report of a fire on Newcastle Drive around 8 pm on Sunday.

The two occupants, 87 year old Albert Wrobel and 62 year old Shari Poindexter, were transported by ambulance to an Arkansas hospital, where they were pronounced dead on arrival.

A second fire was reported on Mockingbird Lane around 2:50 am on Monday. The two occupants in the home at the time were able to escape the home.

The cause of both fires is currently under investigation by Paragould authorities.


CASES OF COVID-19 IN MISSOURI NOW OVER 424,000; CASES CONTINUE TO BE REPORTED ACROSS THE STATE


Cases of the coronavirus have continued to be reported across Missouri.

According to the Butler County Health Department, 56 new cases were reported on Monday, bringing the County’s total cases to 3,791. Another death from the virus was also reported, and the County now stands at 37 deaths caused by COVID-19

Stoddard County has reported 16 new cases over the weekend, and the County now stands at 2,795 total cases. Of them, 106 are active, while 2,629 have recovered. Dunklin County now stands at 2,850 cases. Of them, 2,760 have recovered, while 72 are still active.

As of Monday, Missouri has reached a total of 424,986 cases of the virus, while 5,951 deaths have been directly linked to the disease.
