ONE DEAD FOLLOWING CRASH NEAR POPLAR BLUFF
One person has died following a wreck Saturday afternoon in Butler County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a car failed to yield while getting on US Highway 67, four miles south of Poplar Bluff, and was struck by a tractor trailer.
The driver of the car, 45 year old Clarence Sarabia, of Poplar Bluff, was pronounced dead at the scene by Butler County Coroner Jim Akers.
No injuries were listed for the driver of the tractor trailer.
TWO ARRESTED FOR MURDER IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI
Three people have been arrested following the discovery of human remains in Southeast Missouri.
Bollinger County Sheriff Casey Graham tells KWOC News that on October 14th, the Bollinger County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a missing person, identified as 21 year old Brianna Roberts, of Illinois.
An investigation found that Kaitlyn Morgan and Eric Nanney, of Glen Allen, were the last known individuals to have had contact with Brianna.
During a search of a residence in Bollinger County, human remains were located on the property. Graham says that it was discovered that the victim was stabbed and shot multiple times. As a result of the investigation, Morgan and Nanney were placed under arrest, as was Nanney’s father Ricky Nanney.
Eric Nanney and Kaitlyn Morgan are both facing charges of 1st degree murder, tampering with physical evidence, and abandonment of a corpse. Their bond was each set at $1,000,000, cash only.
Ricky Nanney has been charged with tampering with physical evidence and his bond was set at $50,000, cash only.
An autopsy for the remains has been scheduled for this morning.
PEDESTRIAN STRUCK BY VEHICLE IN BUTLER COUNTY
A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle late Saturday night near Poplar Bluff.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 28 year old Tyler Phillips, of Poplar Bluff, was walking in the roadway on Missouri Highway 142 shortly before midnight Saturday night when he was hit by a truck.
Phillips suffered moderate injuries and was transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital.
SOUTHEAST MISSOURI POLICE DEPARTMENT TO RECEIVE DONATION OF K-9 BODY ARMOR
A Police Department in Southeast Missouri has announced that they are receiving a donation of body armor for their four-legged officer.
The Kennett Police Department’s K9 Rocky will receive a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.
Officials say that the delivery of the vest is expected within eight to ten weeks.
DONIPHAN FOOTBALL STADIUM AND FACILITIES TURNED OVER TO DONIPHAN R-1 SCHOOL
A special event was held before Doniphan’s football game Friday night.
During the event, the Doniphan for Football non-profit group announced that the loan for the stadium will be retired and the stadium and facilities will be turned over to the Doniphan R-1 School district.
The facilities also include a weight room, field house, press box, bleachers, scoreboard, and more.
Doniphan is currently in its fourth season of varsity football.
BRIDGE REPAIRS TO CAUSE DELAYS THIS WEEK ON INTERSTATE 55
Interstate 55 in New Madrid County will be reduced to one lane early this week as Missouri Department of Transportation crews repair the bridge over St. Johns River.
The section of roadway to be reduced is located approximately one mile north of Matthews.
Weather permitting, work will take place today and tomorrow from 8 am to 4 pm each day.
