MULES SOFTBALL QUARTERFINAL TO BE BROADCAST ON KWOC
The Poplar Bluff Mules Softball quarter-final match up will be broadcast on Thursday by Today’s Talk KWOC.
The Lady Mules will be taking on Parkway South in the Class 5 State Quarter-Final. It is the Lady Mules first quarter finals appearance since 1993 when they finished 4th in the state.
The game is scheduled to begin at 4:30 pm in Poplar Bluff. Poplar Bluff Athletics Director Kent Keith says that anyone wishing to attend must purchase a ticket online at mshsaa.org.
93.3 FM and 930 AM KWOC will be bringing you audio coverage of the game live, starting with the pre-game at 4 pm. A video stream will also be purchasable at mshsaa.tv for $10.
POPLAR BLUFF POLICE DEPARTMENT TO HOST DRUG TAKE BACK EVENT
Poplar Bluff residents will have a chance to safely dispose of their unused, unwanted, or expired prescription drugs this month.
The Poplar Bluff Police Department will be participating in National Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, October 23rd from 10 am to 2 pm at the Poplar Bluff Police Station.

PUBLIC HEARING SCHEDULED FOR THIS WEEK TO DISCUSS CARTER COUNTY GRANT APPLICATION
A public hearing has been scheduled for this week in Carter County to discuss a grant application.
Carter County will hold a public hearing at 8:45 am on Friday, October 22nd, at the Carter County Courthouse in Van Buren, to discuss the county’s submission of an application for the Community Development Block Grant program for repairs to the Nutrition Center.
Officials are proposing to complete multiple repairs and replacements to the roof, ceiling, flooring, walls, cabinets, and countertops, along with completing upgrades to the equipment such as new industrial sized dishwasher for the facility.
The total project cost is estimated at $200,000.
STODDARD COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE NOMINATED FOR K9 GRANT
A Southeast Missouri law enforcement agency is asking for votes to help add a K9 unit.
The Stoddard County Sheriff’s Office has been nominated for the Aftermath K9 grant to help fund the procurement of a new K9 unit.
They were nominated by the Bloomfield Department of Public Safety and the Stoddard County Coroner’s Office.
Sheriff Hefner says they are competing with departments across the country and need votes to win.

ROAD TO BE CLOSED TODAY FOR CULVERT REPLACEMENT IN STODDARD COUNTY
Route 51 in Stoddard County will be closed for part of today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews replace a culvert under the roadway.
According to officials the section of roadway to be closed is located about two and a half miles south of Puxico.
Work will take place today from 8 am to 3 pm.
BRIDGE REPAIRS SET FOR TODAY IN DUNKLIN COUNTY
Route 53 in Dunklin County will be reduced to one lane today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews repair the bridge over Indian Camp Slough.
The work zone is located between County Road 332 and County Road 322 near Holcomb.
Weather permitting, work is scheduled for 7 am to 4:30 pm.
