MAN FACING MURDER CHARGE IN DUNKLIN COUNTY
A Kennett man has been charged with murder in connection to the discovery of a body over the weekend.
Kennett Chief of Police Kenny Wilson tells KWOC News that shortly before 5 pm on Saturday, officers were dispatched to an area on Jones Street in reference to a possible deceased person.
The victim was later identified as 76 year old Dewey Ridings, of Kennett. Information about the deceased, including a cause of death, was not available.
Wilson says that an investigation led to the arrest of 49 year old Frankie Pitts, who has been charged with 1st degree murder, 1st degree burglary, unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action, and two counts of tampering with physical evidence.
Pitts is being held in the Dunklin County Jail without bond.
ONE DEAD, TWO INJURED, FOLLOWING WRECK NEAR MALDEN
An Ellington man has died from injuries he received in a two vehicle crash over the weekend.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 31 year old Justin Brookman was driving on Highway 25 when his vehicle crossed the centerline and struck another vehicle.
The wreck occurred Saturday afternoon, just south of the Malden City limits.
Brookman was pronounced dead at the scene by Dunklin County Coroner James Powell. The driver and a passenger in the second vehicle both suffered serious injuries and were taken to a Cape Girardeau hospital.
NEW DATE ANNOUNCED FOR POPLAR BLUFF TECHNICAL CAREER CENTER CAR AND MOTOR SHOW
A new date has been announced for the Poplar Bluff Technical Career Center Car and Motor Show.
The event will begin at 10 am on Saturday, October 30th at the Poplar Bluff High School parking lot.
Officials say the show had to be postponed from its original date due to weather conditions. All paid pre-registrations will be honored for the new date and accommodations will be made for those with unavoidable conflicts.

DONIPHAN TEENAGER SERIOUSLY INJURED IN OREGON COUNTY CRASH
A Doniphan teenager was one of two people injured in a wreck Friday afternoon in Oregon County.
According to authorities, the wreck occurred when a vehicle was making a left turn on Highway V at Myrtle and was struck by another vehicle.
The driver of the second vehicle, 19 year old Hunter Clifton, of Doniphan, was seriously injured in the crash and transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital.
The driver of the first vehicle suffered minor injuries.
BUTLER COUNTY TORNADO WARNING SIRENS TO BE TESTED TODAY
Authorities in Butler County will be testing the tornado sirens today.
According to Butler County Emergency Management Director Robbie Myers, the county’s tornado sirens are scheduled to be tested today at noon.
Myers says that the tests will be conducted every month on the first Monday.
STODDARD COUNTY ROAD TO BE CLOSED EARLY THIS WEEK FOR A CULVERT REPLACEMENT
Route AB in Stoddard County will be closed for the early part of this week so Missouri Department of Transportation crews can replace culverts under the roadway.
According to officials, Route AB will be closed from Route 25 to County Road 503 and between County Roads 514 and 567 .
Weather permitting, work will take place from 8 am to 3 pm both today and tomorrow.
