SEARCH UNDERWAY FOR MISSING TEENS FROM NORTHEAST ARKANSAS

A search is underway for two missing teenagers from Northeast Arkansas.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, officials received a missing person’s report on Saturday for 17 year old Ashley Darlene Walls and 18 year old Matthew Allen Morrison.

The teens had been out on a day trip beginning at approximately 11:30 am Saturday morning from rural Jackson County. No one has had contact with either since.

They were both last seen wearing Newport High School themed clothing and driving a silver 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer with handicapped plates.

The teen’s phones were active in between the Jackson and Woodruff County line and Poplar Bluff early Sunday morning.

Anyone with information on their whereabouts, is asked to contact the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office at 870-523-5842.

TWO DEAD FOLLOWING SINGLE VEHICLE WRECK IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI

Two people have died following a single vehicle wreck over the weekend in Southeast Missouri.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 54 year old Michael Adams, of Eminence, was driving on Shannon County Road 308 early Sunday morning when his vehicle ran off the side of the road and overturned into a creek.

Officials say the wreck occurred at around 12:45 am.

Both Michael Adams and a passenger, 55 year old Kimberly Adams, were pronounced dead at the scene later Sunday morning by Shannon County Coroner Sam Murphy. 

FOOT PURSUIT CAUSES LOCKDOWN OF SOUTHEAST MISSOURI SCHOOL

A Southeast Missouri school was placed under lockdown Monday due to a pursuit in the area.

According to the Portageville Police Department, shortly before 1 pm an officer attempted to make contact with a male on East 12th Street near King Avenue.

The man then fled south on foot across the student parking lot at the Portageville High School. 

After a short foot pursuit, officers arrested 24 year old Malik Jones, of Portageville, on two outstanding warrants for felony possession of a controlled substance through New Madrid County, along with trespassing and disorderly conduct.

Officials say that the Portageville School District was placed on lockdown for a short time until the suspect was taken into custody.

Jones is being held on a total $5,250 bond in the Mississippi County Jail. 

15 POPLAR BLUFF STUDENTS CHOSEN FOR ALL-DISTRICT CHOIR

Numerous Poplar Bluff High School students have been chosen to participate in the All-District Choir concert in November.

According to school officials, a total of 15 PBHS students were selected for the All-District Choir concert, which will be held at 4 pm on Saturday, November 13th, at Cape Central High School.

During the audition, students were judged on sight-reading and art songs they had prepared.  

PBHS All-District Choir members include:

Emma Harris and Alyssa Roy in the junior/senior soprano section, and Victoria Conover in the freshman/sophomore section;

Lexy Rowland and Emma Tinsley in the junior/senior alto section, and Harley Stilwell in the freshman/sophomore section;

Keith Donnell, Bralin Duckett, Christian Redding and Isaac Reid in the junior/senior tenor section, and Gabriel Burke, Andrew Noble and Jakai Sellers in the freshman/sophomore section; and Brent Hanley and Dawson Vaughan in the junior/senior bass section.

 

FIELDS OF FAITH TO BE HELD THIS WEEK IN POPLAR BLUFF

Fields of Faith is scheduled for this week in Poplar Bluff.

Fields of Faith is a student led event where various students can pray and share their faith testimonies.

The event will begin at 7 pm on Wednesday at the Poplar Bluff Junior High Football field.

A free tailgate will start at 6 pm.

In the event of bad weather on Wednesday, there may be a change of location.  

 

ONE INJURED IN NEW MADRID COUNTY CRASH

A collision Sunday evening in New Madrid County has resulted in a man facing a felony charge.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred when 58 year old Paul Wescoat, of New Madrid, crossed the center of an area county road and struck another vehicle. Wescoat suffered serious injuries in the wreck and was transported to a Cape Girardeau hospital.

No injuries were listed for the driver of the other vehicle.  

According to an arrest report from the Highway Patrol, Wescoat is facing a felony charge of driving while intoxicated – aggravated offender.
