WAYNE COUNTY WOMAN KILLED IN SINGLE VEHICLE WRECK

A Wayne County woman was killed in a single vehicle wreck over the weekend.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 29 year old Joshua Kelsoe, of Williamsville, was driving on US Highway 67 Saturday night, when his vehicle ran off the roadway and struck a ditch.

A passenger in the vehicle, 47 year old Judy Thompson, also of Williamsville, was pronounced dead at the scene by Madison County Coroner Collin Follis.

There were no injuries reported for Kelsoe.  

 

AUTHORITIES INVESTIGATING SHOOTING IN NEW MADRID COUNTY

Authorities in New Madrid County are investigating a shooting.

According to the New Madrid County Sheriff’s Department, at approximately 8:40 pm Friday, deputies responded to the area of South Lewis Street in Marston in reference to gun shots with possible victims.

At the scene, deputies located one gunshot victim and learned of a second victim who suffered lacerations and had fled to the New Madrid Police Department.

Officials say that the two victims were transported to local hospitals. Their current conditions were not available.

Officials say that an investigation into the incident is ongoing. 

 

DRAINAGE REPAIRS TO CAUSE DELAYS THIS WEEK ON STODDARD COUNTY ROAD

Route F in Stoddard County will be reduced to one lane this week so Missouri Department of Transportation crews can perform drainage repairs.

The section of roadway to be reduced is located from U.S. Route 60 to County Road 462.

Weather permitting, work will take place today through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.


CLAY COUNTY WRECK LEAVES ONE PERSON DEAD, ANOTHER INJURED

A vehicle collision in Clay County has resulted in the death of a Doniphan man.

According to the Arkansas State Police, on Friday night, a vehicle driven by 26 year old Kenneth Freeman crossed the centerline of US Highway 67 and struck a vehicle head-on.

Officials say that Freeman was killed in the wreck. The driver of the second vehicle was injured and transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital. 


STATEWIDE TORNADO DRILL SCHEDULED FOR TUESDAY

The state of Missouri will be conducting a statewide Tornado Drill on Tuesday.

According to the Butler County Emergency Management Agency, the Poplar Bluff and Butler County outdoor tornado warning sirens will be activated at 10 am on Tuesday as a part of the event.

Since the sirens will be tested on Tuesday, officials say the normal monthly test will not be conducted today. 

 

BARGE STRIKE CAUSES CLOSURE OF MISSISSIPPI RIVER BRIDGE

A bridge over the Mississippi River was closed for a time Friday after it was struck by a barge.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, all lanes of the Interstate 155 Bridge connecting Pemiscot County in Southeast Missouri to Tennessee were closed due to at least one unoccupied barge striking the bridge.

The bridge was later reopened following an inspection.
