TWO IN CUSTODY IN CONNECTION TO SHOOTING IN KENNETT

Two men have been arrested in connection to a fatal shooting in Kennett.

On February 21st, officers responded to the American Legion building in reference to someone shooting a firearm. A total of five people were shot and one later died from his injuries.

According to authorities, 26 year old Darrion Carter and 20 year old Tyrese Tate, both of Charleston, have been taken into custody and are facing charges of second degree murder, armed criminal action, and four counts of unlawful use of a weapon.

Carter is also facing a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. 

 

POPLAR BLUFF ROAD TO BE CLOSED NEXT MONDAY

City officials have announced that a Poplar Bluff road will be closed for part of next week.

According to the Poplar Bluff Street Department, Cravens Road will be closed on Monday, March 29th in order to replace a large storm water culvert.

The closure will be located just south of the Ozark Ridge Golf Course entrance. 

 

DATE ANNOUNCED FOR OPENING OF WAPPAPELLO LAKE BEACHES

The US Army Corps of Engineers has announced when beaches will open at Wappapello Lake.

According to the Corps of Engineers Facebook page, all beaches at Wappapello Lake will be opening on April 23rd. The date could change depending on the lake levels at the time.

The Corps of Engineers have also said that the People’s Creek Lower Campground will be opening on April 9th. 


DEADLINE COMING UP TO REGISTER FOR POPLAR BLUFF YOUTH BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL

The deadline is approaching to get your children registered for youth baseball or softball in Poplar Bluff.

According to the Poplar Bluff Parks and Recreation Department, the deadline to register is this Friday. Children who will be 8 to 15 years old on August 1st can register.

NORTHEAST ARKANSAS WOMAN CLAIMS $500,000 FROM LOTTERY TICKET

A Northeast Arkansas woman has won half a million dollars through the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery.

Sabrena Jones, of Paragould, took home a $500,000 prize from a scratch-off ticket.

Jones says she plans to buy a new car for her daughters and take a vacation with the prize money. 

 

DUCKS UNLIMITED DINNER AND AUCTION SET FOR THIS WEEKEND

The Bluff City Mallards will be hosting their Annual Ducks Unlimited Dinner and Auction this weekend.

The event has been scheduled for Saturday, March 27th at the Black River Coliseum. Doors will open at 5:30 pm, followed by dinner at 7 pm, and a live auction at 8 pm.
