OVER 100 POPLAR BLUFF SCHOOL EMPLOYEES RECEIVE COVID-19 VACCINATION
Numerous employees of the Poplar Bluff School District were vaccinated for Covid-19 last week.
According to school officials, over 100 school employees were vaccinated during a Covid-19 immunization clinic held on Thursday.
They received the first round of the Pfizer shot. For staff members who were unable to make it to the on-site clinic due to after-school duties, the school nursing staff is collaborating with Key Drugs to offer a Moderna or Johnson and Johnson vaccine option.
ALL CLEARWATER SCHOOLS TO RETURN TO NORMAL TODAY
Clearwater students will return to classes today.
According to the Clearwater R-1 Facebook page, water service has been restored to the middle and high school campuses, so school will return to normal.
Elementary students attended in person classes yesterday.
Officials say that bottled water will be available for students and staff during the time that the city is under a boil water order.
FORMER MISSOURI GOVERNOR ANNOUNCES SENATE BID
A former Missouri Governor has announced he will be running for the United States Senate seat being vacated by Roy Blunt.
Eric Greitens announced Monday that he will seek the GOP nomination in 2022. Greitins was elected as Missouri Governor in 2016 before scandals forced him out of office just a year and a half into his tenure.
Senator Blunt announced earlier this month he would not be seeking a third term in the United States Senate.
COVID VACCINE CLINIC SCHEDULED FOR WEDNESDAY IN PIEDMONT
A Covid-19 Vaccine clinic has been scheduled for this week in Wayne County.
The Wayne County Health Center announced yesterday that spots were still available for the clinic, which will be held on Wednesday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Piedmont.
They are taking appointments for the 1st and 2nd doses of the Moderna vaccine. To make an appointment, call 573-224-3218.
ILLINOIS MAN ARRESTED ON COCAINE CHARGES IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI
An Illinois man was taken into custody last night on multiple drug related charges.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 33 year old Brent Whitaker, of Cairo, Illinois, was arrested shortly before 5:30 pm in New Madrid County on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance for crack cocaine.
Whitaker is also facing charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
ARKANSAS EXTENDS STATE TAX FILING DEADLINE
Another state has chosen to extend the deadline for tax filing.
Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson has extended the deadline for filing state individual income tax until May 17th, 2021, to coincide with the extended federal deadline, which was announced last week.
The state of Missouri has also extended its filing deadline to May 17th.
INTERSTATE REPAIRS SET FOR THIS WEEK IN NEW MADRID COUNTY
Southbound Interstate 55 in New Madrid County will be reduced to one lane with a 16-foot width restriction this week so Missouri Department of Transportation crews can perform bridge repairs.
According to MoDOT, the work zone will be located between mile markers 42 and 40, near Marston.
Weather permitting, work will take place from 7 am to 5 pm daily through Friday.
