WOMAN CHARGED WITH INVOLUNTARY MANSLAUGHTER IN CONNECTION TO DEATH OF A TODDLER

A Bloomfield woman is in custody in connection to the death of a toddler.

Officials with the Bloomfield Department of Public Safety tell KWOC News that on Tuesday, officers were dispatched to an area residence for a 17 month old toddler who was found unresponsive in a bathtub full of water.

The toddler was later pronounced dead at an area hospital. The Stoddard County Major Case Squad was partially activated and it was determined that the toddler had been left unattended for an extended period of time. 

Officials say that an autopsy was conducted on Wednesday, however the official autopsy report has not been released.

On Wednesday, 21 year old Jodi Crum, of Bloomfield, was charged with Involuntary Manslaughter 2nd Degree. Her bond was set at $100,000 and she is being held in the Stoddard County Jail.

ONE IN CUSTODY AFTER HUMAN REMAINS FOUND IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI

Officials in Southeast Missouri say that one person is in custody after human remains were found this week.

According to Bollinger County Sheriff Casey Graham, on Monday, the Sheriff’s department received information in reference to a report of a missing adult female out of Madison County.

Bollinger County Deputies and investigators from the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control conducted an investigation within Bollinger County and collected numerous items of evidence including human remains.

Graham says that one subject is in custody at the Bollinger County Jail pending the filing of formal criminal charges. The identities of the subject in custody and the missing female were not released.

According to Graham, the investigation is ongoing. 

 

LADY RAIDERS TO PLAY TODAY FOR SPOT IN NATIONAL SEMI-FINALS

The Three Rivers College Lady Raiders will play today for a spot in the national semi-finals.

The 9 seed Lady Raiders will play 16 seed Western Nebraska at 1 pm this afternoon in the quarterfinals of the NJCAA Women's Basketball Championship.

Three Rivers enters the game 23-0 with wins over the 24 and 8 seeds in the tournament. Western Nebraska is 17-5 on the season and upset the number 1 seed Jones in the second round. 

BELL CITY MAN ARRESTED FOR FAILURE TO REGISTER AS A SEX OFFENDER

A sex offender has been taken into custody in Stoddard County.

According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, 33 year old Jimmy Leon Garrett Jr, of Bell City, was recently booked for failure to register as a sex offender.

He had been convicted of Statutory Sodomy – 2nd degree in 2007.

Officials say that no bond was set.  

 

WORLD RECORD FISH CAUGHT AT WAPPAPELLO LAKE

A world record sized fish has been caught at Wappapello Lake.

The Missouri Department of Conservation announced this week that on February 25th, Devlin Rich, of Williamsville, reeled in a 10-pound, 9-ounce spotted gar.

The previous world record for spotted gar was a 9 pound, 12 ounce fish caught in 1994.

MDC staff verified Rich’s record-breaking catch on a certified scale in Williamsville. It is the second state record fish caught in 2021.

POPLAR BLUFF POLICE PHONE LINES TO BE DOWN TONIGHT FOR MAINTENANCE

There will be a disruption in phone service tonight at the Poplar Bluff Police Department.

According to officials, from 11pm to midnight tonight, the Poplar Bluff Police phone lines will be down for maintenance. The 911 lines will not be affected during the outage.
