LADY RAIDERS SOFTBALL TEAM SWEEP THEIR WAY TO NJCAA TOURNAMENT

The Three Rivers College Lady Raiders softball team will soon be on their way to Arizona.

The Lady Raiders swept Indian Hills Community College in a double header Sunday to secure their place in the NJCAA Division 1 Championship Tournament.

Three Rivers defeated Indian Hills 5-4 and 5-1 to sweep the best of three series. The 16 team Division 1 NJCAA Softball Championship will be held from May 25th to May 29th at Yuma, Arizona. 

 

POPLAR BLUFF SHOOTING SUSPECT TAKEN INTO CUSTODY

A suspect in the shooting of a total of four people over two separate incidents in Poplar Bluff has been taken into custody.

Captain J.R. Keirsey with the Poplar Bluff Police Department tells KWOC News, at approximately 10:45 pm on Thursday, officers responded to the area of Selma and Lois Street in reference to reports of shots being fired. 

Two subjects had been shot and taken to an area hospital for treatment. Both subjects were described as being in stable condition.

Early Friday morning at approximately 6:45 am, officers responded to the 1100 block of Fairmount Street in reference to another report of shots being fired. At the scene, officers located two subjects who had been shot. The subjects were later transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

While on scene officers arrested the suspected shooter which was later determined to be the suspected shooter for the Thursday night shooting.

The suspect has been identified as 32 year old Dexter Dennis of Poplar Bluff. Dennis was booked in the Butler County Justice Center and is facing charges of assault 1st, armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a firearm.

  

TWO KILLED IN NORTHEAST ARKANSAS WRECK

Two people have died after their vehicle was hit by a train Friday evening in Northeast Arkansas.

According to the Arkansas State Police, 30 year old Jeri Emmons, of Hot Springs, was driving on Highway 280 in Greene County when she reportedly crossed into the path of a northbound train and was struck.

Emmons was killed in the collision, as was a passenger in the vehicle, 38 year old Ginger Broadway, of Ravenden Springs. 

  

POPLAR BLUFF WOMAN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN SINGLE VEHICLE WRECK

A Poplar Bluff woman was seriously injured in a single vehicle wreck over the weekend.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 55 year old Pamela Odom was driving on Highway V in Wayne County Saturday morning when her vehicle ran off the roadway, went airborne, and struck an embankment.

Odom received serious injuries in the wreck and was transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital. 

  

MODOT CREWS TO BE IN BUTLER COUNTY THIS WEEK

Crews with the Missouri Department of Transportation will be in Butler County this week to make driving surface improvements on Route O.

According to MoDOT, crews will be on Route O from 6:30 am to 5 pm daily both today and tomorrow. The work zone will be located from Route 67 to Route W.

During the repairs, flaggers and a pilot car will be in place to guide traffic.

 

OVER WEEK LONG ROAD PROJECT TO CAUSE CLOSURE OF STODDARD COUNTY ROAD

Route NN in Stoddard County will be closed over the next week as Missouri Department of Transportation crews overlay the roadway.

The section of Route NN to be closed is located from Route FF to County Road 531.

Weather permitting, work will take place today through May 25th from 6:30 am to 4 pm each day and the route will be open to local traffic only.
