PEDESTRIAN KILLED IN KENNETT ACCIDENT

A pedestrian has died following an incident in Kennett.

Kennett Chief of Police Kenny Wilson tells KWOC News, that at around 9:15 Monday morning, Kennett Police and the Kennett Fire Department responded to Kennett Square to investigate an accident involving a pedestrian.

Wilson says the pedestrian, identified as Keith Mitchell, of Kennett, died from injuries he received in the accident.

  

VEHICLE STRIKES BUILDING IN WAPPAPELLO

Two people were injured Monday when a vehicle struck a building in Wappapello.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the vehicle was on Royal Lane at Highway T when it ran off the roadway and struck the building.

The driver and a passenger in the vehicle suffered moderate injuries and were transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital.

No information was available on how much damage was done to the building. 

POPLAR BLUFF MAYOR TO HOST LISTENING SESSION THIS WEEK

The Poplar Bluff Mayor is wanting to hear from local residents.

Mayor Steve Dennis will be hosting a listening session this Thursday night.

The event will be held from 6 to 8 pm at Bread and Butter on North Westwood Boulevard. 

 

TODAY IS THE DEADLINE FOR EMPLOYERS TO REGISTER FOR SPRING JOB FAIR 

The deadline to register for the upcoming spring job fair in Poplar Bluff is rapidly approaching.

According to the Butler County Community Resource Council, employers have until 5 pm this evening to register for the job fair, which is scheduled for 10 am to 2 pm on May 27th at the Black River Coliseum.

MAN ARRESTED ON DRUG AND FIREARM CHARGES IN RIPLEY COUNTY

Authorities in Ripley County have arrested an area man on multiple felony charges.

Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that 32 year old Christopher Spicer, of Doniphan, was taken into custody Monday morning on a felony charge of unlawful possession of a firearm.

Spicer was also arrested on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance for methamphetamine. 


WAYNE COUNTY ROAD TO BE CLOSED TODAY FOR CULVERT REPLACEMENT

Route FF in Wayne County will be closed today so crews with the Missouri Department of Transportation can replace a culvert under the roadway.

The section of roadway to be closed is located between County Road 312 and County Road 380.

Weather permitting, work will take place today from 8 am to 3:30 pm.
