HARVIELL MAN DIES FROM INJURIES AFTER BEING STRUCK BY A VEHICLE IN BUTLER COUNTY

A Harviell man has died after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday morning in Butler County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 62 year old Dennis Tubbs, was struck by a 2019 International Harvester vehicle on US Highway 67, one mile north of Harviell. The incident occurred shortly before 6:30 am.

Tubbs was transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital and then to a Memphis hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

POPLAR BLUFF MAN DROWNS IN AREA POND

A 71 year old man drowned last week in Butler County.

Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that Robert Greer, of Poplar Bluff, drove his lawn mower into a pond on the evening of May 19th.

The lawn mower then overturned, trapping Greer.

He was transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital, where he was pronounced dead. 

LADY RAIDERS TAKE FIRST LOSS IN THE NJCAA SOFTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP 

The Three Rivers College Lady Raiders have taken their first loss in the NJCAA Division 1 Softball Championship. 

The 10 seed Lady Raiders fell to 2 seed Butler Community College 12 to 4 Wednesday night in the second round of the double elimination tournament.

With the loss, Three Rivers moved to the lower bracket and had to play a second game on Wednesday, against 9 seed Chattanooga State Community college.

The Lady Raiders used a 3-run seventh inning to complete a comeback victory 7-6.

Three Rivers Tournament run will continue today at 4 pm Central time when they take on 6 seed Seminole State College in the third round of the Lower Bracket.

MAN ARRESTED IN NEW MADRID COUNTY ON MURDER CHARGE

Authorities in New Madrid County have arrested a Kansas man on a murder charge.

According to Missouri Case Net, a warrant was issued this week for 29 year old Shawn Sinclair, of Iola, Kansas, on charges of Murder 1st degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and two counts of Armed Criminal Action.

The warrant stems from an incident on Tuesday in Marston.

No bond was set and Sinclair is scheduled to appear in court this morning in New Madrid. 

SEAT BELT ENFORCEMENT CAMPAIGN UNDERWAY IN MISSOURI

Memorial Day weekend is coming up and the Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety is reminding everyone to be buckled up while on the road.

State and local law enforcement are joining with the Coalition for the National Click it or Ticket enforcement campaign through June 6th, to highlight the importance of buckling up.

For 2020, preliminary data indicates 428 individuals killed in Missouri traffic crashes were not wearing their seat belt. It is the highest number of unbuckled fatalities in Missouri during the last 5 years and an 18 percent increase from 2019.

Along with wearing a seat belt, officials want to remind motorists to slow down, put your phone down, and never drive impaired.

ROADWORK TODAY ON ROUTE 67 IN WAYNE COUNTY

Northbound U.S. Route 67 in Wayne County will be reduced to one lane with a 15-foot width restriction beginning today so Missouri Department of Transportation crews can repair the bridge over the St. Francis River.

The section of roadway to be reduced is located between County Road 509 and Business U.S. 67.

Weather permitting, work will take place 6:30 am to 4:30 pm through Tuesday, June 1st.
