LADY RAIDERS SOFTBALL TAKE GAME ONE OF THE NJCAA TOURNAMENT

The Three Rivers College Lady Raiders got their NJCAA Division 1 Softball Championship run off to a good, albeit late start Tuesday night.

Overruns from earlier games caused the Lady Raiders matchup against Yavapai College to be pushed back around an hour and a half from its originally scheduled start time.

The delay didn’t hurt the 10 seed Lady Raiders, who jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning thanks to a RBI single from Brianna Everett. The 7 seed Roughriders tied the game up in the fourth, but the Lady Raiders exploded for six runs in the sixth inning to take a commanding lead.

The final score was 7-4 as the Lady Raiders earned their first win in the double elimination tournament.

Their campaign will continue on Wednesday when they take on 2 seed Butler Community College in the second round. First pitch is scheduled for 6 pm Central Time.
