TWO CHILDREN FOUND SAFE AFTER MOTHER SHOT IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI
Two children have been found safe after their mother was shot on Sunday.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, an Amber Alert was issued Sunday afternoon after the two children, aged 9 and 7 years old, were taken by 43 year old Jason Baker in Reynolds County.
The Amber Alert said that Baker shot the children’s mother and left the area with them in a vehicle.
The children were later found safe and the Amber Alert was cancelled.
Further details were not released and the incident is under investigation.
CALIFORNIA MAN KILLED WHEN CANOE CAPSIZES ON CURRENT RIVER
A California man has died after his canoe capsized in Southeast Missouri.
Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that 82 year old David Robles, of Los Angeles, California, was piloting a Canoe on Current River when a strong current swept the canoe into a root wad, causing it to capsize.
Robles then got caught under the root wad and drowned.
The incident occurred at around 11:30 am Saturday at Chilton Creek in Carter County.
CRASH INVOLVING A CHURCH VAN LEAVES 11 INJURED IN NORTHEAST ARKANSAS
Authorities say a church bus collided Saturday with another vehicle on a northeastern Arkansas highway, sending at least 11 people to the hospital.
Clay County Sheriff Terry Miller says he believes that there were 11 people aboard the Tennessee church bus and that they were all taken to hospitals.
He said two of the church bus passengers were airlifted to hospitals in Memphis, while the others were taken to hospitals with either minor injuries or to be evaluated.
The crash occurred on US Highway 67, near Corning at around 1 pm on Saturday.
OFFICIALS INVESTIGATING PRANK INVOLVING A FAKE BODY IN BOLLINGER COUNTY
Officials in Bollinger County are investigating a prank involving a fake body.
According to the Bollinger County Sheriff’s Office, Thursday evening dispatch received an emergency 911 call from a reporting party who stated that a possible human body was located on Bollinger County Road 872.
At the scene, officials located a large piece of plastic tape closed with duct tape. Inside the plastic officials found clothes stuffed with trash which was disguised to appear as though it was a human body.
The Sheriff’s Office is calling the incident a disturbing and unnecessary prank and are asking anyone with information about it to call 573-238-2633.
SIX INJURED, INCLUDING THREE CHILDREN, IN DUNKLIN COUNTY WRECK
Six people were injured, including three children, following a two vehicle wreck Sunday afternoon in Dunklin County.
According to officials, the wreck occurred when a vehicle failed to yield and pulled into the path of another vehicle.
A total of six people suffered either minor or moderate injuries in the wreck. Three of the injured were four years old or younger. They were all transported to a Paragould hospital.
POPLAR BLUFF CITY COUNCIL TO HOST MEETING TONIGHT
The Poplar Bluff City Council will be hosting a regular meeting tonight.
The Council will be taking action on multiple items including an ordinance authorizing the City Manager to purchase properties from the Butler County Collector’s Office, an ordinance regarding a conditional use permit to operate an outdoor sports paintball business, and an ordinance regarding a union representative.
There are also ordinances regarding the rezoning of certain properties on Oak Grove Road, Barron Road, and West Victor Street.
The meeting will begin at 7 pm this evening in the City Council Chambers on South 5th Street.
