GREENVILLE MAN KILLED IN SINGLE VEHICLE WRECK

Authorities in Wayne County say that a Greenville man has died following a single vehicle wreck.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 36 year old Phillip Tanner was driving on Route E near Greenville when his vehicle ran off the side of the road and struck multiple trees.

The wreck occurred at around 12:20 am Monday morning.

Tanner was pronounced dead at the scene by Wayne County Coroner Mike Allen. 

THREE RIVERS COLLEGE RODEO TEAM PLACES IN THE TOP 15 AT NATIONAL FINALS

The Three Rivers College Rodeo team has placed in the top 15 at the College National Finals Rodeo.

TRC finished 13th in the team national standings. According to a post on the Three Rivers College Rodeo Team Facebook page, there were only two members on the Three Rivers team while the other teams included six members.

Cole Skender was the Reserve National Champion and Holden Moss finished 4th in the nation.

The National Finals were held last week in Casper, Wyoming.

  

MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO METH CHARGE

 A California man has pleaded guilty to a meth charge in Southeast Missouri.

According to the United States Attorney’s Office, 36 year old Dexter Elcan, of South Gate, California pleaded guilty on Monday to one count of possession with the intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.

On the morning of July 11th, 2020, officers learned that Elcan was traveling to Missouri and that he had shipped a package by UPS from California to a residence in Poplar Bluff.

When officers arrived at the residence and knocked on the door, Elcan ran out another door and tried to escape. He was captured a short distance away. The package held 446 grams of a mixture or substance containing methamphetamine.

Officials say that the quantity of methamphetamine is consistent with distribution and not for personal use.

Elcan faces a minimum sentence of ten years incarceration, up to a maximum sentence of life imprisonment. His sentencing is set for September 8th. 

BUTLER COUNTY WRECK LEAVES WOMAN WITH SERIOUS INJURIES

An early afternoon wreck on Monday has left a Piedmont woman with serious injuries.

Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that a vehicle driven by 21 year old Brooke Cave overturned after running off of US Highway 67 near Poplar Bluff.

Cave was ejected during the wreck and later transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital with serious injuries. A passenger in the vehicle was uninjured. 

 

DUNKLIN COUNTY ROAD CLOSED FOR BRIDGE REPLACEMENT

Route ZZ in Dunklin County has been closed so contractor crews replace the bridge over the Deering Drainage Ditch.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, the work zone is located between Route NN and County Road 725.

Weather permitting, the project is anticipated to be complete by Friday, August 20th. 

 

OVER A WEEK LONG ROAD PROJECT BEGINNING TODAY IN WAYNE AND BOLLINGER COUNTIES

An over a week long road project is scheduled to begin this morning in Wayne and Bollinger Counties.

Route TT in Bollinger and Wayne Counties will be closed as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform pavement repairs.

The section of roadway being closed is located from Route E in Bollinger County to Route P in Wayne County.

The closure was scheduled to begin at 6 am this morning with the road reopening at 8 am on Thursday, July 1st.
