ONE DEAD FOLLOWING SINGLE VEHICLE WRECK IN NORTHEAST ARKANSAS

One person has died following a single vehicle wreck in Northeast Arkansas.

According to the Arkansas State Police, 26 year old Joseph Jinright was driving on State Highway 231 in Randolph County when his vehicle ran off the side of the road and struck a tree. 

The wreck occurred shortly after 7:30 am Wednesday morning.

Officials say Jinright was pronounced dead by Deputy Coroner Josh Dement. 

 

DOWNTOWN COMMERCIAL OPEN HOUSE SET FOR THIS AFTERNOON IN POPLAR BLUFF

Multiple area organizations are teaming up today to showcase what is available in downtown Poplar Bluff.

Three Rivers Board of Realtors, Downtown Poplar Bluff Inc., and Bank of Missouri will be hosting the Downtown Commercial Open House from 3 pm to 6 pm this afternoon.

There will be open houses for businesses for lease or rent in the downtown area as well as presentations on past developments and events.

The event will begin at Foxtrot Coffee, where participants can get a map of participating locations. 

FAFSA FRENZY EVENT SET FOR TODAY IN KENNETT

There will be an opportunity today for students to get assistance filling out their Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

The FAFSA Frenzy Summer Edition will be held from 10 am to 2 pm and from 4 pm to 7 pm today at the Kennett Job Center.

Professionals and volunteers will be on hand at the event to offer free assistance and answer any questions students may have.

FAFSA Frenzy is open to any student currently attending or interested in attending a college or university, no matter where they live, go to school, or plan to attend college.

Attendees should create a Federal Student Aid account at studentaid.gov prior to attending, and bring their log in information, their Social Security number, 2019 federal tax returns, W-2s, and records of any investments or money earned.

 

HEAD ON COLLISION LEAVES BERNIE WOMAN WITH SERIOUS INJURIES

Two people were injured in a head-on collision early Wednesday morning in Stoddard County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 27 year old Gunner Williams, of Malden, was attempting to pass a vehicle on Missouri Highway 25 when he struck a vehicle head on.

The driver of the vehicle that was hit, 42 year old Sarah Sawyer, of Bernie, suffered serious injuries in the wreck and was transported to a Cape Girardeau hospital.

Williams received minor injuries and was taken to a Dexter hospital. 

US ROUTE 67 TO BE REDUCED TODAY IN WAYNE COUNTY

Southbound U.S. Route 67 in Wayne County will be reduced to one lane with a 15-foot width restriction today as crews repair the bridge over the St. Francis River.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, the work zone is located between Route FF and County Road 221.

Weather permitting, work will take place from 7:30 am to 4 pm.

 

PAVEMENT REPAIRS SET FOR TODAY IN STODDARD COUNTY

Route K in Stoddard County will be reduced today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform pavement repairs.

According to officials, the section of roadway to be reduced is located from Route 25 to Route BB.

Weather permitting, work will take place from 7 am to 4 pm both today and Monday, June 14th.
