TEENAGER SERIOUSLY INJURED IN WRECK NEAR ELLINGTON

An Ellington teenager was injured Monday evening in a Reynolds County wreck.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the 16 year old female was driving on Old Missouri Highway 21 when she swerved to miss a deer, causing her vehicle to run off the roadway and strike a tree.

The teen suffered serious injuries and was transported to a St. Louis Hospital. 

 

CITY OF POPLAR BLUFF RECOGNIZED FOR SAFE DIGGING PRACTICES

The city of Poplar Bluff recently received an award for safe digging.

The City, along with Street Superintendent Jerry Lawson, were presented with the annual Silver Shovel award during the city council meeting on Monday.

The award is for safe digging practices over the past year. Officials say that Poplar Bluff is one of only three cities in the state to receive the award in two consecutive years. 

 

TEAMS BEING ACCEPTED FOR 2021 BATTLE ON THE BANK COED SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT

Teams are being accepted for the 2021 Battle on the Bank Coed Slow Pitch Softball tournament.

The tournament will be held on August 21st at Riverfront Park in Doniphan. Games will begin at 8 am with a top prize being awarded to the winning team.

The cost is $150 per team. All proceeds will go to the summer park baseball and softball program.

COALITION FOR ROADWAY SAFETY ASKING FOR PUBLIC’S HELP IN GETTING EVERYONE TO BUCKLE UP

The Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety is asking for the public’s help in creating a new Public Service Announcement to remind people to buckle up.

Anyone wanting to participate in the contest needs to create a 30-second video PSA that tells others why buckling up and putting their phone down while driving is important.

The winning PSA will be featured at this year’s Buckle Up Phone Down Day celebration in October and will be used in campaigns throughout the state.

ROAD CLOSURE SCHEDULED FOR TODAY IN BUTLER COUNTY

Route 142 in Butler County will be closed today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews replace a culvert beneath the roadway.

The section of Route 142 to be closed is located between County Road 265 and County Road 341.

Work is scheduled to take place today from 7 am to 4 pm.

 

PAVEMENT REPAIRS TO CAUSE CLOSURE OF WAYNE COUNTY ROAD

Route N in Wayne County will be closed today so crews with the Missouri Department of Transportation can perform pavement repairs.

According to officials, the work zone is located from Route 34 to the end of state maintenance.

Work is scheduled to take place through 4:30 pm this afternoon.
