11th ANNUAL ST. JUDE ARCHERY SHOOT SCHEDULED FOR THIS WEEKEND

Archers will be taking up their bows this weekend to raise money for the kids at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The 11th Annual St. Jude Archery Shoot will begin this Saturday morning at 8 am at the Missouri Department of Conservation Archery Range on NN Highway near Poplar Bluff.

Officials say that this year the shoot is a Scholastic 3-D Archery sanctioned event, which means it will also serve as a regional qualifier for S3DA.

There will also be a free youth archery camp beginning at noon.

KELLYANNE CONWAY TO APPEAR AT CAMPAIGN RALLY TODAY IN POPLAR BLUFF

One of the senior counselors to former President Donald Trump will be appearing at a campaign rally today in Poplar Bluff.

Kellyanne Conway is scheduled to be at a rally for Congressman Billy Long beginning at 11 am this morning at the Black River Coliseum.

Long has served as the United States Representative for Missouri’s 7th Congressional district since 2011.

He is seeking the seat that is currently held by Senator Roy Blunt, who has announced that he will not seek reelection next year. 

 

NATIONAL EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM TEST SET FOR THIS AFTERNOON

Don’t be surprised if you get an emergency alert on your phone this afternoon.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency and Federal Communications Commission will be conducting a national test of the Emergency Alert System this afternoon at 1:20 pm.

Officials say that the test will go to radios and televisions, while specifically configured cell phones will also receive an emergency alert test code message. 

BEAM SIGNING CEREMONY TO BE HELD TODAY FOR NEW POPLAR BLUFF POLICE DEPARTMENT

A ceremony will be held today at the site of the new Poplar Bluff Police Department facility.

The public is invited to attend the beam signing ceremony, which is scheduled for noon today.

Some attendees will also get the chance to sign a steel beam that will be at the site of the new Police Department facility at 911 Shelby Road, just south of PP Highway.

 

PAVEMENT REPAIRS TO CAUSE DELAYS TODAY IN BUTLER COUNTY

Crews with the Missouri Department of Transportation will be in Butler County today for two separate pavement repair projects.

Highway 53 in Butler County will be reduced to one lane from Route CC to Strawberry Lane for repairs.

Weather permitting, work will take place from 6:30 am to 12 pm.

Route OO in Butler County will also be reduced to one lane today from noon to 3:30 pm due to the repairs.

The work zone for that project will be located between Route FF and County Road 638. 

 

RIPLEY COUNTY ROAD TO BE CLOSED TODAY

Route Z in Ripley County will be temporarily closed as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform pavement repairs.

The section of roadway to be closed is located from County Road Z-5 to Route 142.

Weather permitting, work is scheduled to take place today from 7 am to 4:30 pm.
