POPLAR BLUFF POLICE SEEKING PUBLIC’S HELP IN LOCATING A WANTED MAN

Authorities in Poplar Bluff are asking for the public’s help in locating a wanted man.

According to the Poplar Bluff Police Department, 36 year old Matthew Russell is wanted for robbery and suspicion of stealing. Officials say that he has felony warrants for his arrest.

Russell is described as a white male, five feet, 11 inches tall, weighing 165 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes.

He has also been known to ride a blue bicycle.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact the Poplar Bluff Police Department at 573-785-5776.

MAN FACING CHARGES FOLLOWING WRECK THAT LEFT FIVE PEOPLE INJURED

A Dexter man is facing a felony charge following a single vehicle wreck that left five people injured.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 19 year old Dawson Duckworth was driving on Stoddard County road 249 late Monday night when his vehicle ran off the side of the roadway and struck a tree.

A 20 year old female in the vehicle suffered serious injuries in the wreck and was flown to an area hospital.

Duckworth and three other passengers received moderate injuries and were transported by ambulance to local hospitals.

According to an arrest report from the Highway Patrol, Duckworth is facing a felony charge of driving while intoxicated. 

  

MISSOURI NATIONAL GUARD TO ASSIST LOUISIANA WITH RECOVERY FROM HURRICANE IDA

Missouri is sending about 300 National Guard soldiers to help Louisiana communities battered by Hurricane Ida.

Governor Mike Parson announced yesterday that he's mobilizing soldiers to help with hurricane relief for at least two weeks. Ida ravaged the region’s power grid, leaving 1 million people and businesses in Louisiana without power.

At least four deaths were blamed on the storm.

The Missouri National Guard is offering humanitarian aid, equipment, debris removal and other general assistance.

 

MIGRATORY BIRD SEASON STARTS TODAY IN MISSOURI

The beginning of September also marks the start of certain bird hunting seasons in Missouri.

According to the Missouri Department of Conservation, dove season in Missouri runs from September 1st through November 29th.

Seasons for other migratory birds beginning today include sora and Virginia rails which runs through November 9th and Wilson’s common snipe which runs through December 16th.

The season for teal begins on September 11th, while the season for American Woodcock will begin on October 15th.

Hunters are reminded to observe regulations – including bag limits, shooting hours, and carrying all necessary permits – while hunting safely.

CONSTRUCTION PLANNED FOR TODAY ON MAJOR STODDARD COUNTY ROAD

Missouri Route 25 in Stoddard County will be reduced to one lane today so crews with the Missouri Department of Transportation can perform drainage repairs.

According to officials, the work zone is located from Route AC to Mary Street in Bloomfield.

Weather permitting, work will take place from 7 am to 4 pm.

 

MODOT CREWS TO BE IN DUNKLIN COUNTY FOR TWO DAY ROAD PROJECT

U.S. Route 62 in Dunklin County will be reduced to one lane over two days as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform pavement repairs.

The portion of U.S. Route 62 to be reduced is located from Highway 53 to Highway 25.

Weather permitting, work will take place from 7 am to 4 pm both today and tomorrow.
