DEXTER HOSPITAL REOPENS FOLLOWING TORNADO DAMAGE REPAIRS

A Stoddard County hospital has reopened after receiving damage from a tornado last month.

According to officials, Southeast Health Center of Stoddard County has reopened its Emergency Services, Behavioral Health, and Inpatient units.

The hospital’s Imaging Department, Lab, and Respiratory Therapy are fully functional for inpatient or Emergency Services use.

Officials say that damages have been repaired in these areas and extensive, additional testing has been completed to ensure patient safety.

Outpatient services, including Imaging, Mammography, Lab and Physical Therapy are expected to reopen at full capacity later this week.

FACE COVERINGS NOW REQUIRED IN BUTLER COUNTY COURTS

Rising Covid-19 cases in Missouri have forced the return of mask requirements in Butler County Courts.

Michael Pritchett, presiding judge of the 36th Judicial Circuit Court, has announced that all persons admitted to the public areas of the Butler County and Ripley County Courts facility or the Butler County Juvenile Facility will be required to wear a face covering that covers the mouth and nose beginning at 9 am this morning.

The order also covers the municipal division of the city of Poplar Bluff.

According to the Butler County Health Department, there has been 183 new Covid-19 cases over the past week, bringing the total active cases in the county to 204. There have also been two new COVID related deaths in Butler County. 

 

PIEDMONT MAN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY ON MULTIPLE DRUG CHARGES

Authorities in Wayne County have arrested an area man on multiple drug charges.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 53 year old Daniel Whitley, of Piedmont, was taken into custody Wednesday morning on a total of four felony charges of possession of a controlled substance for diazepam, hydrocodone, oxycodone, and amphetamine.

Following the arrest, Whitley was held at the Wayne County Jail. 

 

FIRST RESPONDERS BALL TO BE HELD IN SEPTEMBER

A date has been set for the 4th Annual First Responders Ball.

The event will be held on Saturday, September 11th at the Aad Grotto Shriners Hall.

The theme is “Prom Night, a night to celebrate our first responders.” Formal attire is encouraged.

The ball will begin at 6 pm. Tickets are $25 and all proceeds will benefit supporting heroes. 

 

TWO STODDARD COUNTY ROADS TO BE REDUCED TODAY FOR CULVERT REPLACEMENTS

Two Stoddard County roads will be reduced today for road projects.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, Route AB will be reduced between County Roads 514 and 567 from 7 am to 3 pm for a culvert replacement.

Crews will also be reducing Route 25 from 7 am to 4 pm today for drainage repairs. The work zone for that project will be located from Route AC to Route E.

WAYNE COUNTY ROAD TO BE CLOSED TODAY FOR PAVEMENT REPAIRS

Route FF in Wayne County will be closed today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform pavement repairs.

The section of Route FF to be closed is located from Route 34 to Route U.

Work is scheduled to take place from 8 am to 4:30 pm.
