RETIREMENT CELEBRATION TO BE HELD NEXT MONTH FOR COACH GENE BESS

A retirement celebration will be held next month for former Three Rivers College men’s basketball coach Gene Bess.

Bess retired last year after 50 seasons with the Raiders, where he amassed 1,300 career wins and two national championships.

The celebration for Bess will be held at 5 pm on Saturday, September 11th at Mt. Calvary Powerhouse Church in Poplar Bluff.

 

VEHICLES STOLEN FROM DEXTER BUSINESS HAVE BEEN RECOVERED

Updating a story we brought to you last week, officials in Dexter say that two vehicles that were stolen from an area business have been recovered.

According to the Dexter Police Department, multiple off road vehicles were stolen from M2 Outdoors on Wednesday, July 28th, between 1:50 and 3:30 am.

The suspect vehicle is described as a silver Ford F-150 crew cab which was pulling a bumper pull trailer.

Police officials reported Tuesday that the stolen side by side and ATV have been recovered.

The investigation into the thefts is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Thomas Forkum at 573-624-5512, extension 4.  

  

NEELYVILLE STUFF THE BUS EVENT SCHEDULED FOR THIS WEEKEND

A Stuff the Bus event will be held this weekend to help children in the Neelyville School District.

The event is scheduled for 8 am to 5 pm at the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Poplar Bluff.

Neelyville School officials also say that offices on all campuses will be open for enrollments and information updates beginning August 9th.

Kindergarten Orientation will be held at 6 pm on Tuesday, August 17th. The Open House for grades one through 12 will start at 6 pm on Thursday, August 19th.

HORNERSVILLE WATERMELON FESTIVAL SET FOR NEXT WEEK

A date has been set for the 2021 Hornersville Watermelon Festival.

The event has been scheduled for 10 am to 10 pm on Saturday, August 14th on Main Street in Hornersville.

There will be multiple attractions during the festival, including a parade, live music, a wiffleball tournament, a cornhole tournament, and various watermelon contests. 

  

PAVEMENT REPAIR PROJECT UNDERWAY IN BUTLER COUNTY

A month-long pavement repair project is underway in Butler County.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, Southbound Route 67 in Butler County is being reduced to one lane with a 10-foot width restriction through Thursday, September 2nd, so contractor crews can perform pavement repairs.

The work zone is located between Route 160 and County Road 276.

Officials say there will be 24-hour lane closures at various locations throughout the work zone during the project.

 

TWO RIPLEY COUNTY ROADS TO BE CLOSED TODAY FOR PAVEMENT REPAIRS

Both Route W and Route AA in Ripley County will be closed today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform pavement repairs.

Route W will be closed from Route 142 to County Road W-5E, while Route AA is being closed from Route W to County Road 142E-46S.

Work will take place in both locations from 7 am to 5 pm.
