CARTER COUNTY AUTHORITIES SEARCHING FOR MAN WANTED ON MULTIPLE CHARGES

Authorities in Carter County are searching for a man in connection to a search warrant that was executed last month.

According to Carter County Sheriff Dustin Boyer, on August 26th, members of the Carter County Sheriff’s Office and the South-Central Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at a residence on Carter County Road 222.

During the search, officers found methamphetamine and an unlicensed marijuana grow operation. Law enforcement also recovered five vehicles that had been reported stolen from Southeast Missouri and three firearms that had also been reported stolen.

Boyer says that a warrant has been issued for David Emery on numerous charges including two counts of possession of a controlled substance, one count of manufacture of a controlled substance, four counts of stealing for the firearms, and five counts of stealing for the motor vehicles.

50 COMPUTERS DONATED TO POPLAR BLUFF SCHOOL

A Poplar Bluff school recently received a donation of numerous computers to help incorporate STEM learning into the curriculum.

According to the Poplar Bluff School District, Sparklight recently donated 50 Google Chromebooks to Lake Road Elementary to be used to teach coding.

The devices have allowed third grade teacher Michelle McDaniel to start the ‘Kids Who Code’ club to teach students how to code.

Around 40 students, in 1st through 6th grades, gather for about an hour and a half in the gymnasium each morning for the club.

 

SOUTHEAST MISSOURI MAN ARRESTED ON CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CHARGE

A Southeast Missouri man is facing a child pornography charge following his arrest last week.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, investigators executed a search warrant at the Ironton residence of 31 year old Thomas Miller on Thursday, September 9th.

As a result of the search, investigators seized child pornography and computer equipment. Miller was later contacted at his place of employment and informed he was under arrest. He reportedly attempted to flee by physically pushing and pulling away from troopers before being placed in custody.

Miller has been charged with five counts of possession of child pornography and one count of resisting or interfering with an arrest.

SIGNUPS FOR POPLAR BLUFF TRAP TEAM TO BE HELD THIS WEEK

Poplar Bluff students who are interested in trapshooting will have an opportunity to register for the trap team this week.

First Round Signups for the Poplar Bluff Trapshooting Team have been scheduled for 5:30 to 6:30 pm tomorrow.

The registration event will be held in the lobby of the Poplar Bluff Middle School gym. 

 

SURFACE TREATMENT SCHEDULED FOR TODAY ON US HIGHWAY 60 AND INTERSTATE 57

Interstate 57 and U.S. Route 60 in Mississippi, New Madrid, Scott and Stoddard Counties will be reduced to one lane in each direction today as contractor crews improve the driving surface.

The section of roadway to be reduced will be located at various places between Route B in Bertrand and Route 25 in Dexter.

Weather permitting, work will take place today from 6 am to 5 pm.

 

SURFACE TREATMENT SCHEDULED FOR TODAY ON US HIGHWAY 60 AND INTERSTATE 57

Route WW in New Madrid County will be reduced to one lane over two days so crews with the Missouri Department of Transportation can perform pavement repairs.

Officials say that the work zone will be located from Route U to Route P.

Weather permitting, work will take place from 8 am to 3 pm both today and tomorrow.
