REMEMBRANCE CEREMONY SET FOR SATURDAY FOR THE ANNIVERSARY OF THE 9/11 TERRORIST ATTACKS

A special remembrance program has been scheduled for this Saturday in Poplar Bluff for the 20th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001.

River Radio will be hosting the program beginning at 10 am at the Larry Hillis parking lot at the corner of Highway 67 North and Shelby Road in Poplar Bluff.

The keynote speaker will be Congressman Jason Smith, with guest speakers including Missouri Senator Jason Bean, Poplar Bluff Police Chief Danny Whiteley, and Butler County Sheriff Mark Dobbs.

The pledge of allegiance during the program will be performed by students from Poplar Bluff Middle School.

There will also be a bagpipe performance as well as performances of the military branch songs. 

 

KENTUCKY MAN FLOWN FROM SCENE OF FREIGHTLINER WRECK IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI

A Kentucky man was flown from the scene of a wreck Tuesday night in Southeast Missouri.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 77 year old Stanley Evans, of Cadiz, Kentucky, was driving a freightliner on Interstate 55 when he tried to avoid another vehicle, causing his vehicle to run off the side of the roadway and overturn.

Evans suffered serious injuries in the wreck and was flown to a Memphis hospital. 

 

CURRENT RIVER CLEANUP SET FOR NATIONAL DAY OF SERVICE

AmeriCorps Senior will be hosting a clean-up of Current River for the National Day of Service and Remembrance on September 11th.

The event will be from 10 am to 4 pm, spanning from Watercress Spring to Big Springs.

There will be food, music and giveaways as a part of the event as well.

POPLAR BLUFF CHEERLEADING KIDDIE CAMP SET FOR NEXT WEEK

Future Poplar Bluff cheerleaders will get a chance to learn cheers, dances, and jumps during an upcoming camp.

The Poplar Bluff Cheerleading Kiddie Camp for ages three through 6th grade will be held next week at the Poplar Bluff High School Auxiliary Gym.

The camp is scheduled for 5:30 to 7 pm on Monday, September 13th through Wednesday, September 15th.

The cost is $25 per child.

A performance will be held on September 16th during the Mules 7th and 8th grade football games at the Junior High School Football field.

 

US 60 IN STODDARD COUNTY TO BE REDUCED TODAY

Eastbound U.S. Route 60 will be reduced to one lane today at the One Mile Road exit in Dexter so Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform signage repairs.

The section of Route 60 being reduced is located from the North Outer Road to Hickory Hills Road in Dexter.

Work will be done today from 7 am to 4:30 pm.

 

BRIDGE REPAIRS TO CAUSE DELAYS TODAY ON STODDARD COUNTY ROAD

Route O in Stoddard County will be reduced to one lane today as crews repair a bridge over Drainage Ditch #287.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, the section of Route O to be reduced is located from County Road 316 to County Road 371.        

Work is scheduled to take place from 7 am to 4 pm.
