GREENVILLE AND DONIPHAN TO PLAY TODAY FOR OFC BASEBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

The 2022 Ozark Foothills Conference Baseball Tournament will come to an end today.

Greenville will be facing Doniphan at Three Rivers College in Poplar Bluff for the OFC Championship. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 pm.

The Third Place game will see Naylor take on Twin Rivers, beginning at 1 pm this afternoon.

Both the Championship and Third Place game will be broadcast live on the Today’s Talk KWOC Facebook page at facebook.com/TodaysTalkKWOC and the River Radio Youtube page at youtube.com/RiverRadioPB. 

CITY OF POPLAR BLUFF RECOGNIZED AS A TRUE STARS AND STRIPES CITY

A Southeast Missouri city has been recognized for its dedication to America.

The City of Poplar Bluff has been named a true Stars and Stripes City for “its ongoing embrace and dedication to the principles of informed citizenship, commitment, and service in our democratic society”.

Jim Martin with The Stars & Stripes National Museum, Library, and Learning Center presented Poplar Bluff City Manager Matt Winters with the proclamation Wednesday morning. 

POPLAR BLUFF MIDDLE SCHOOL TO HOST PARADE FOR VETERANS DAY

Poplar Bluff area veterans are being invited to participate in a parade for Veteran’s Day.

The Poplar Bluff Middle School is hosting a Veteran’s Day Parade on November 11th. Veterans who want to be involved will get to drive through a parade loop around the PBMS campus to be recognized and cheered by students.

The Parade will begin at 9:15 am and the veterans should arrive at the parking lot of the Highland Drive Church of Christ at 8:30 am.

Only veterans, students, and school staff will be allowed on campus for the event.

Any veteran that would like to join the parade is asked to call 573-785-5566 and ask to speak to a counselor or go to the Poplar Bluff Middle School Facebook page. 

HUNTER EDUCATION CLASS TO BE HELD IN POPLAR BLUFF

A hunter education class will be held this month in Poplar Bluff.

The Hunter Education Fall Skills Session has been scheduled for Monday, October 24th at the Poplar Bluff Technical Career Center from 5 to 9 pm. Students can sign in beginning at 4:30 pm.

The event is open to the public at no cost, but students must preregister online by October 23rd. You can preregister online at https://mdc-event-web.s3licensing.com/. 

Class participants must bring proof of completion of the knowledge portion of the hunter’s education course along with a copy of their birth certificate or some other proof of age if under the age of 16.

FALL BUFF UP THE BLUFF COMING THIS WEEKEND

The 2022 Fall Buff up the Bluff event is set for this weekend.

The citywide clean up event has been scheduled for Saturday, October 15th.  

Henson’s Transfer Station on the Industrial Park Bypass will be accepting items from 8 am to 3 pm. Any yard waste, leaves, or limbs will still need to be taken to the east side site. Proof of Poplar Bluff residency will be required at both sites.

Today is the last day to arrange for curbside pickup of items for residents 65 years old and older. To make the reservations, call 573-686-8622.

PAVEMENT REPAIRS TO FORCE TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF STODDARD COUNTY ROAD

Route CC in Stoddard County will be temporarily closed as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform pavement repairs. 

The section of Route CC to be closed is located from Route 114 to Route A near Baker.

Weather permitting, work will take place today from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
