ONE DEAD FOLLOWING SINGLE VEHICLE WRECK IN RURAL CLAY COUNTY
One person has died, and two others are injured, following a single vehicle wreck in Northeast Arkansas.
According to the Arkansas State Police, 23 year old Jose Morales, of Portland, Indiana, was driving on US Highway 67 in Clay County, early Saturday morning, when his vehicle ran off the side of the road and went into a water filled ditch.
A passenger in the vehicle, 37 year old Jessica Cruz, also of Portland, Indiana, was killed in the wreck.
Morales and another passenger were injured and transported to area hospitals. Their current conditions were not released.

Two Southeast Missouri schools are celebrating state basketball championships.
The Charleston Blue Jays won the Class 3 State Championship with a 58-56 win over Lafayette County on Friday.
In Class 1, the South Iron Panthers are state champions following their 71-45 win over Stanberry on Saturday.
Bernie fell in the Class 2 State Championship game by one point, losing to Norwood 64-63. The Ellington girl’s team were also eliminated in the Class 2 final, losing 52-31 to Wellington-Napoleon.
In Class 4, the New Madrid County Central Eagles have made it to the state final four. The Eagles defeated Lift for Life Academy Charter over the weekend 59-46 in the state quarterfinal.
New Madrid County will play Vashon on Friday in the Class 4 Semi-final.
DEXTER MAN CHARGED WITH MURDER IN CONNECTION TO NORTHEAST ARKANSAS HOMICIDE
A Dexter man has been charged with murder in connection to a fatal shooting last week in Northeast Arkansas.
According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Department, 30 year old Heath Hunsaker is in custody on a charge of first degree murder for the death of 35 year old Matthew Hale.
Hale’s body was found with gunshot wounds last week at a residence near Rector.
The investigation led authorities to Hunsaker, who was found in Poplar Bluff. Officials say that Hunsaker confessed to the shooting.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Department, Arkansas State Police, and Missouri State Highway Patrol were all involved in the investigation.
WATER TO BE SHUT OFF IN CARDWELL THIS MORNING FOR REPAIRS
A Dunklin County city will be without water for a period of time this morning due to repairs.
According to the City of Cardwell, water will be turned off in the city this morning at 8 am to repair a leak.
No timetable was given for when water would be restored. Officials also say that the city will be under a boil water order starting today.
ROUTE 25 TO BE REDUCED TODAY IN STODDARD COUNTY
Missouri Route 25 in Stoddard County will be reduced to one lane today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform drainage repairs.
The section of roadway to be reduced is located from County Road 260 to Wolf Creek Lane.
Work is scheduled to take place from 8 am to 11 am.
BRIDGE REPAIRS SET FOR TODAY IN WAYNE COUNTY
Route 34 in Wayne County will be reduced to one lane today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews repair the bridge over Black River.
Officials say that the work zone will be located between County Road 459A and County Road 459.
Work will take place today from 8 am to 3 pm.
