SOUTHEAST MISSOURI BASEBALL TEAM TO PLAY FOR STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TODAY

A Southeast Missouri High School will be playing today for a state championship.

Portageville will be playing Russellville at 1 pm this afternoon in Ozark in the Class 2 State Baseball Finals.

Portageville advanced to the championship game with a 6-0 win over Gainesville in the state Semifinal on Monday.  

Oran will be playing in the Class 1 State Final this evening against St. Elizabeth. 

US HIGHWAY 60 REPAIRS TO BEGIN TODAY IN BUTLER COUNTY

Eastbound U.S. Highway 60 in Butler County will be reduced beginning today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform bridge repairs. 

The section of roadway to be reduced is located between Route DD and Highway 51 near Fisk.

Weather permitting, work will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. both today and tomorrow.

TRACTOR STRUCK BY A TRAIN NEAR PORTAGEVILLE, ONE INJURED

A tractor was struck by a train Monday in Southeast Missouri.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2007 John Deere tractor failed to yield to a locomotive on New Madrid County Road 324 and was hit.

The incident occurred at around 8 am Monday morning. 

Officials say that the 16 year old driver of the tractor suffered serious injuries and was transported to a Sikeston hospital. 

ARKANSAS MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED DURING MOTORCYCLE WRECK IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI

An Arkansas man was seriously injured during a motorcycle wreck over the weekend in Southeast Missouri.

According to authorities, a motorcycle ran off of Highway T, near Wappapello, and overturned at around 6 pm Sunday.

The driver, identified as 72 year old Dennis Lape, of Searcy, Arkansas, suffered serious injuries and was flown to a St. Louis hospital.  

DUNKLIN COUNTY MAN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY ON FELONY CHARGES

A Dunklin County man was taken into custody over the weekend on a felony drug charge.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 50 year old Christopher Moore, of Kennett, was arrested Saturday evening on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance for methamphetamine.

Moore is also facing charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Officials say that Moore also had multiple warrants from the Kennett Police Department. 

DRAINAGE REPAIRS SCHEDULED FOR TODAY NEAR HOWARDVILLE

U.S. Highway 62 in New Madrid County will be reduced today so crews with the Missouri Department of Transportation can perform drainage repairs. 

The work zone is located near Howardville, from U.S. Highway 61 to Route W. 

Weather permitting, work will take place today from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
