BUTLER COUNTY ROAD TO BE CLOSED FOR FOUR MONTHS STARTING TODAY

The Missouri Department of Transportation has announced that a Butler County road will be closed for approximately four months beginning today.

Route W in Butler County will be closed as contractor crews replace a bridge over Black River. The bridge is located between County Road 525 and Ravenwood Lane near Poplar Bluff.

Work began at 6 a.m. this morning, with completion anticipated by Friday, September 30th, weather permitting.

A signed detour is in place and the Hilliard River Access will be temporarily closed to the public during construction.

PORTAGEVILLE BASEBALL FALLS SHORT IN CLASS 2 STATE FINAL

The Portageville Bulldogs were stopped short in their quest for a state baseball championship.

The Bulldogs fell to Russellville 5-3 Tuesday in the Class 2 State Baseball Final in Ozark.

Russellville jumped on Portageville early with two runs in the first inning and one run in the second and third innings. The Bulldogs finish the season with a 31-4 record.

Kennett will step to the plate later today in Class 4. The Indians will be taking on Logan-Rogersville in the Class 4 State Semifinal. First pitch is scheduled for 10 am. 

MAN FLOWN TO ST. LOUIS HOSPITAL AFTER VEHICLE HE WAS WORKING ON BACKED OVER HIM

A Malden man was flown to a regional hospital early Tuesday morning following an accident in Dexter.

Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that 45 year old Nathan Hemby was working on a vehicle in a Dexter parking lot when the vehicle backed over him and struck another vehicle.

Hemby suffered serious injuries and was transported by air to a St. Louis hospital. 

ARRAIGNMENT HELD FOR MAN CHARGED WITH MULTIPLE COUNTS OF INVASION OF PRIVACY

An arraignment was held Tuesday in Stoddard County for a man charged with multiple counts of invasion of privacy.

According to Missouri Case Net a warrant was served Friday for 51 year old Bruce Dovin, of Jackson, on one count of felony invasion of privacy and three counts of misdemeanor invasion of privacy.

Dovin appeared in court on Tuesday where he pleaded not guilty.

Dovin’s bond was set at $35,000 and he is scheduled to appear in court next on June 23rd.  

BOATS COLLIDE ON CURRENT RIVER, ONE PERSON INJURED

Two boats collided over the holiday weekend on Current River.

According to authorities, the crash occurred as a boat failed to yield to another vessel Monday morning, about one and a half miles south of Doniphan.

The driver of the first boat suffered minor injuries and was transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital. 

CULVERT REPAIRS TO CAUSE DELAYS TODAY IN NEW MADRID COUNTY

Highway 162 in New Madrid County will be reduced today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews repair a culvert under the roadway. 

The section of roadway to be reduced is located between Route B and County Road 272. 

Weather permitting, work will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
