MAN IN CUSTODY AFTER ALLEGEDLY ASSAULTING AND KIDNAPPING A WOMAN IN BUTLER COUNTY

A teenager who allegedly assaulted and kidnapped a woman is in custody.

Butler County Sheriff Mark Dobbs tells KWOC News that at around noon on June 20th, 18 year old Keaton Rexroad allegedly assaulted and kidnapped Lexi Ellis by force from a Butler County residence.

Dobbs says that Ellis was found safe Monday afternoon and Rexroad has been taken into custody.

THREE RIVERS COLLEGE STUDENT WINS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP IN BULL RIDING

A member of the Three Rivers College rodeo team has won a national championship.

Casey Roberts won the bull riding competition at the College National Finals Rodeo this past weekend in Casper, Wyoming.

Roberts teammate, Cole Skender, placed third in the competition.

At the end of the rodeo, the Three Rivers College rodeo team finished in fifth place out of a total of 49 colleges that participated. 

INVESTIGATION STARTED INTO ATTEMPTED BURGLARY IN MISSOURI BOOTHEEL

An investigation has been initiated following the report of an attempted burglary in the Missouri bootheel.

According to the Hayti Police Department, on Sunday officers were dispatched to Kings Tobacco in reference to an attempted burglary.

The reporting party stated that two males approached the store wearing masks and gloves and attempted to break the front glass door of the store.

When the males were unable to make entry, they fled the scene.

Officials say that possible suspects have been identified and an investigation into the incident is ongoing. 

POPLAR BLUFF MAN ARRESTED ON MULTIPLE DRUG RELATED CHARGES

Authorities in Butler County have arrested an area man on multiple drug related charges.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 37 year old Thomas Youngblood, of Poplar Bluff, was taken into custody Saturday morning on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine.

Youngblood is also facing charges of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while suspended or revoked, and failure to display plates.

Following the arrest, he was transported to the Butler County Jail. 

POPLAR BLUFF MAN TO GRADUATE FROM LAW ENFORCEMENT ACADEMY

A Poplar Bluff man will be one of 25 people to graduate from the Missouri State Highway Patrol Law Enforcement Academy this week.

Denny Smith, of Poplar Bluff, will graduate from the 25 week long Academy on Friday and will report to duty in Butler and Ripley Counties on July 11th.

Officials say that the ceremony will be live streamed on the Highway Patrol’s Facebook page.

Southeast Missouri will be getting a total of four new troopers from the 113th Recruit Class.

In addition to Smith, Jaxton Edwards, of Harrison, Arkansas, was assigned to Dunklin County, while Gregory Bixler, of New Madrid, and Taylor Wiebe, of Wichita, Kansas, were assigned to Pemiscot and New Madrid Counties. 

PAVEMENT REPAIRS TO BEGIN TODAY IN STODDARD COUNTY

Missouri Route 25 in Stoddard County will be reduced to one lane beginning today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform pavement repairs. 

The section of Route 25 to be reduced is located from Route M to Route E near Bloomfield. 

Weather permitting, work will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. both today and tomorrow.
