ONE DEAD, ANOTHER IN CUSTODY, IN CONNECTION TO FATAL MOTORCYCLE WRECK
One person has been taken into custody in connection to a fatal motorcycle wreck.
Officials with the Malden Department of Public Safety tell KWOC News that authorities are investigating a vehicle versus motorcycle crash that occurred on July 31st near State Highway J and Palo Verde Street.
The operator of the motorcycle, identified only as a 36 year old male from Bernie, was transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Officials say that the driver of the vehicle, 45 year old Tawny Divietro, of Malden, was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated.
She is being held in the Dunklin County Justice Center on a no bond warrant.
KANSAS MAN DROWNS WHILE FLOATING IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI
The body of a Kansas man has been found in Southeast Missouri.
Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that 48 year old Dee Hodges, of Wichita, Kansas, went missing while floating on the Current River.
His body was found on Tuesday at Cave Spring in Shannon County. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Shannon County Coroner Sam Murphy.
According to the incident report on the Highway Patrol’s website, the death is being considered a drowning.
CITY OF POPLAR BLUFF AWARDED GRANT FOR INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECT
Poplar Bluff will be receiving money to help with an infrastructure project.
The Missouri Department of Economic Development has announced that the city of Poplar Bluff has been awarded $500,000 through the Community Development Block Grant program.
The project consists of several storm water improvements, including storm water detention basins and culverts near the north branch of Pike Creek.
The total cost for this project is estimated at approximately $905,000, with Three Rivers College contributing approximately $305,000. The City of Poplar Bluff will also contribute $100,000 of in-kind work toward the project.
14TH ANNUAL MULE SKINNER GOLF TOURNAMENT SET FOR FRIDAY
The 14th Annual Mule Skinner Golf Tournament is coming up this week.
The 4 person scramble tournament will be held on Friday at the Westwood Hills Country Club in Poplar Bluff. Check in time is 11:30 am with a shotgun start at 1 pm.
Organizers say the entry fee is $600 per team, which includes a cart and lunch. Hole sponsorships are also available for $100 per hole.
All proceeds will go to benefit Poplar Bluff Mules athletics programs.

SHOULDER WORK TO CAUSE POSSIBLE DELAYS IN THE MALDEN AREA
Route 62 in New Madrid County will be reduced to one lane today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform shoulder work in the Malden area.
The work zone will be located from Route 25 to County Road 558.
Weather permitting, work will take place today from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
PAVEMENT REPAIRS TO CAUSE CLOSURE OF PEMISCOT COUNTY ROAD TODAY
Route TT in Pemiscot County will be closed through this evening as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform pavement repairs.
According to officials, the closure is located from Route 162 to Route T, near Portageville.
Weather permitting, work will take place through 6 p.m. tonight.
