DATES ANNOUNCED FOR OPEN HOUSES IN THE POPLAR BLUFF R-1 SCHOOL DISTRICT

Parents in Poplar Bluff will have the opportunity to learn more about the schools their children will be attending this fall during a series of open houses scheduled for next week.

Open houses will be held for the Kindergarten along with 7th and 8th grades on Tuesday, August 16th.

The 5th and 6th grade Open Houses will also be on the 16th at the Middle School.

The four elementary schools will be holding their Open Houses on Wednesday, August 17th.

The 4th grade and Poplar Bluff Senior High School open houses will be on Thursday, August 18th. The Technical Career Center will also be hosting an open house on the 18th. 

Early Childhood will hold meet the teacher visits from August 17th through the 23rd.

TEENAGER SERIOUSLY INJURED AFTER STRIKING SILO NEAR MATTHEWS

A teenager was taken to an area hospital after being involved in a single vehicle car crash over the weekend.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the 17 year old female was driving on County Road 843, near Matthews, when her vehicle ran off the roadway and struck a silo.

The teenager suffered serious injuries and was transported to a Sikeston hospital.

Officials say that the wreck occurred shortly after midnight Saturday morning. 

LUNSFORD AMONG THE WINNERS OF THE OZARK BORDER ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE BOARD ELECTION

Judy Lunsford was one of four people elected to the Ozark Border Electric Cooperative board.

The election was held on Friday before the Cooperative’s Annual meeting.

Lunsford currently serves as the Board Vice-President.

In addition to Lunsford, Jordan Collins, Bill Hager, and Greg Lintz were all elected to the 12 member board.

All four of the winners were incumbents. 

MISSOURI GOVERNOR TO MEET WITH STATE LEGISLATORS TODAY IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI

The Missouri Governor is scheduled to be in Southeast Missouri today.

Governor Mike Parson will be meeting today with Missouri House Republican members from the southeastern region of the state in Portageville.

Following the meeting, Parson will be touring a rural route repair project on Route 162 in New Madrid County.

CARTER COUNTY ROADWORK PROJECT SCHEDULED TO BEGIN TODAY

Route P in Carter County will be reduced to one lane beginning today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews overlay the roadway.

The section of roadway to be reduced is located from U.S. Route 60 to the end of state maintenance.

Weather permitting, work will take place from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, through Thursday, August 11th.

ROUTE 162 IN NEW MADRID COUNTY TO BE CLOSED FOR BRIDGE REPLACEMENT

Route 162 in New Madrid County will be closed through late September as contractor crews replace the bridge over drainage ditch 62.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, the closure is located between Route B and County Road 361 near Portageville.

Weather permitting, work will begin today with completion anticipated by Sunday, September 25th. Work will take place each day from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
