SLIPPERY ROAD CONDITIONS POSSIBLE THIS MORNING
Weather officials are warning of icy road conditions in Southeast Missouri.
According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, a Winter Storm Warning was in effect overnight due to possibilities of snow, sleet, and ice accumulations.
Weather officials say that motorists should prepare for possible slippery road conditions this morning. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
According to a Hazardous Weather Outlook from the National Weather Service, a light wintry mix of precipitation is possible near the Arkansas and Tennessee borders in southeast Missouri this afternoon and evening.
Light sleet and ice accumulations could lead to some travel difficulties as temperatures are expected to remain below freezing.
Another potential round of freezing rain is possible over the southern half of southeast Missouri from Wednesday night into early Thursday. A light glaze of ice could lead to more travel difficulties Thursday morning, however temperatures are forecast to warm well above freezing Thursday, so any impacts will be short-lived.
