MOTORISTS ENCOURAGED TO DRIVE SAFELY DURING THE THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY PERIOD
Many Missouri residents are getting ready to get on the road to see their family for Thanksgiving, but officials are urging motorists to keep safety in mind.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, nine people were killed and another 482 were injured during the 2022 Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
Officials are urging motorists to be vigilant, always buckle up, obey posted speed limits, and never drive impaired or distracted.
State Troopers will be participating in Operation C.A.R.E., over the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend, enforcing all traffic laws, and being available to assist the public.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Emergency Report line is 1-800-525-5555, or (star)55 on a cellular phone. Motorists should use the emergency line if they witness criminal activity or experience an emergency.
UNITED GOSPEL RESCUE MISSION TO HOST ANNUAL THANKSGIVING DINNER
The United Gospel Rescue Mission is providing their annual Thanksgiving Meal on Thursday.
The meal will be held at around noon at the Rescue Mission in Poplar Bluff. For everyone who ordered meals to be delivered, they will start going out at 10:30 am.
On Thursday, the rescue mission will need assistance to prepare, serve, and deliver the meals. They are also accepting donations of desserts to be used in the meals.

DEADLINE APPROACHING TO ENTER INTO THE RIVER RADIO LIGHTED CHRISTMAS PARADE
Time is running out to get your float entered into the 2023 River Radio Lighted Christmas Parade.
The parade is scheduled for 6 pm on Friday, December 1st. Entry forms are available on our Facebook page and website. The deadline for entries is November 25th. Line up will begin at 4:30 pm at the Sky High Indoor Park parking lot.
The parade route this year will run from Highway 53 at McDonalds, north along Ditch Road into Downtown Poplar Bluff, then east on Vine Street, before circling back on Main Street.

FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS AUTO TOUR TO BEGIN ON NOVEMBER 24TH
We are close to the beginning of an annual holiday tradition in Southeast Missouri.
The 31st Annual Festival of Lights Auto Tour will begin at the Redman Creek East Campground on November 24th.
The Auto Tour will be open on weekends through December 10th and then open nightly from December 14th to Christmas Day.
This event is being held in partnership with the Wappapello Lake Area Association, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and River Radio.

TWO CHARGED WITH NUMEROUS COUNTS OF STEALING IN DUNKLIN COUNTY
Two people are facing numerous counts of stealing in the Missouri Bootheel.
Jennifer and Korey Adams, of Malden, have each been charged with 19 counts of stealing in connection to Dunklin County Sewer District #1.
According to a probable cause affidavit, a report from the state auditor made it apparent that at least $160,000 in money and sewer services was missing or misappropriated from the Dunklin County Sewer District between the dates of January 1st, 2017 and March 5th, 2021.
During this time period, Jennifer Adams was employed as bookkeeper and Korey Adams served as the Sewer District Board President.
Warrants were issued this week for the charges, and the bonds for each subject were set at $45,000.
MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO DELIVERING METHAMPHETAMINE IN STODDARD COUNTY
A Dexter man is facing a decade behind bars following his guilty plea on multiple drug charges.
According to Stoddard County Prosecuting Attorney Sawyer Smight, Donald Beck has entered a guilty plea to charges of delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, and tampering with physical evidence.
Beck was arrested on the charges in June of this year.
On Monday, Beck was sentenced to 10 years in the Department of Corrections on the delivery charge, seven years for the possession charge, and four years for the tampering charge, with the three sentences to be served concurrently.
