ONE KILLED IN SINGLE VEHICLE CRASH NEAR ESSEX
One person is dead in connection to a single vehicle crash late Monday night in Stoddard County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 30 year old Caleb Cockrell, of Puxico, was driving on Route KK when his vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a tree.
Cockrell was pronounced dead at the scene by Stoddard County Coroner Brent Stidham.
Officials say the crash occurred at around 10 pm, three miles south of Essex.
ENDANGERED PERSON ADVISORY ISSUED FOR MISSING 16 YEAR OLD FROM BUTLER COUNTY
An Endangered Person Advisory has been issued for a missing teenager from Butler County.
The Butler County Sheriff's Department has issued the advisory for 16 year old Caylee Jean Foster.
The advisory says that Foster left her residence with friends after getting into an argument with her mother in September. Foster was dropped off at Bacon Park in Poplar Bluff and has not been heard from since.
Foster is described as a white female, five feet five inches tall, weighing 130 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She also has a nose ring and wears glasses.
Anyone with information on Foster’s whereabouts is asked to call 911 to contact the nearest law enforcement agency or call the Butler County Sheriff's Department at 573-785-8444.
FILING TO BEGIN IN DECEMBER FOR CITY COUNCIL ELECTIONS
Filing will begin early next month for the upcoming Poplar Bluff City Council elections.
According to Poplar Bluff City Clerk Lori Phelps, the city will be holding elections in April for three seats on the City Council, one representative from Wards Two and Four, as well as an At Large seat.
The Ward Two and Four elections will be for three year terms, while the At-Large seat will be for a two-year unexpired turn.
Candidates can begin filing for the election on Tuesday, December 5th. The final day for candidate filing will be December 26th.

OVER 11,000 DEER HARVESTED DURING NEW CWD PORTION OF DEER SEASON
A new portion of deer season this year has seen hunters harvest over 11,000 deer.
Preliminary data from the Missouri Department of Conservation shows that hunters harvested 11,705 deer during the state’s new chronic wasting disease portion of the firearms deer-hunting season.
The new portion was held from November 22nd through the 26th in CWD Management Zone counties. According to MDC, the CWD portion was timed to occur during the end of the primary rut when deer movement is typically good and hunter interest remains high.
MDC initiated the new portion to increase deer harvest in the CWD Management Zone to help slow the spread of the disease.
Of the 11,705 deer harvested, 4,707 were antlered bucks, 1,074 were button bucks, and 5,924 were does.
POPLAR BLUFF LIBRARY COLLECTING BOOKS FOR SANTA LAND
The Poplar Bluff library is collecting books for area children.
The Library has partnered with Altrusa to collect books so that every child who visits Santa Land this year leaves with a book.
Santa Land is an annual event that will take place this year on December 5th at the Black River Coliseum.
The Library is asking anyone who would like to drop off new or gently used children's books, appropriate for ages birth to 6th grade, to do so at either of the library’s branches through November 30th.

CULVERT REPLACEMENT TO CAUSE DELAYS TODAY IN STODDARD COUNTY
Route K in Stoddard County will be closed today so crews with the Missouri Department of Transportation can replace a culvert along the roadway.
According to officials, the work zone is located between County Roads 233 and 219 near Bell City.
Weather permitting, work will take place today from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
