POLICE ASKING FOR HELP IN LOCATING MAN WANTED FOR ARMED ROBBERY AND BURGLARY
Authorities in a Missouri Bootheel town are asking for the public’s help in finding a wanted man.
According to the Malden Department of Public Safety, they are trying to locate Orlandis Farr, of Malden for charges of robbery and burglary in connection to an incident from earlier this month.
Officials are warning the public to not approach Farr if they do see him. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact the Malden Department of Public Safety at 573-276-2211.
SLAM DUNK AND THREE POINT CONTESTS TO HIGHLIGHT TODAY AT THE POPLAR BLUFF SHOWDOWN
The stars will be shining this morning at the 36th Annual Poplar Bluff Showdown.
The Showdown Slam Dunk and Three-Point Contests will begin at 10 am this morning at Poplar Bluff High School.
The semi-finals are also scheduled for today as Memphis East will take on Vilonia at 7 pm, followed by New Madrid County Central versus Central Brothers at 8:30 pm.
The consolation bracket games will begin at 4 pm with Germantown matching up with Urbana, followed by Poplar Bluff against McCracken County at 5:30 pm.

OFFICIALS ENCOURAGING MOTORISTS TO BE SAFE WHILE CELEBRATING THE NEW YEAR
The New Year is quickly approaching and officials are reminding everyone who is planning to get out and celebrate this weekend to drive safely.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, during the 2023 New Year’s period, six people were killed and 345 were injured in 925 traffic crashes in Missouri.
If you are driving to a New Year’s gathering, remember to buckle up and obey all traffic laws. If your plans include alcohol, remember to designate a sober driver or take a ride service to get home safely.
The 2024 New Year’s holiday counting period begins at 6 p.m. on Friday and ends at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, January 1st.

POPLAR BLUFF PARKS AND RECREATION TO RING IN NEW YEAR WITH 5K RUN
Poplar Bluff Parks and Recreation will be celebrating the beginning of 2024 next week with a 5k run.
The New Year, New You 5k will begin at 10 am on January 1st at McLane Park. Check-in will start at 9:30 am and the cost is $10.

ARCHAEA ENERGY TO ESTABLISH LOCATION IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI
The nation’s largest renewable natural gas producer is expanding to Southeast Missouri.
According to the Missouri Department of Economic Development, Archaea Energy is establishing a location in Dexter.
Officials say that the location will come with a significant investment and the creation of two new jobs.
SEMO RISEN RIDERS POLAR BEAR RUN SCHEDULED FOR NEW YEARS DAY
The SEMO Risen Riders will be hosting their annual Polar Bear Run on New Year’s Day.
Officials say the motorcycle ride will start at 1 pm on Monday at Light House Church in Dexter. The ride will be preceded by a chili lunch at noon.
All vehicles are welcome and the length of the ride will be determined by the temperature outside.
