OLD GREENVILLE RENDEZVOUS SCHEDULED TO BEGIN TODAY 

An annual tradition returns this weekend to Greenville. 

The 44th Annual Old Greenville Rendezvous, presented by the Crowley’s Ridge Blackpowder Club and the US Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Wappapello, will be held today through Sunday at the Old Greenville Campgrounds. 

There will be multiple events and entertainment options available and admission is free to the public.

DEDICATION FOR BILLIE KANELL MEMORIAL SCHEDULED FOR SUNDAY 

The Poplar Bluff museum will be hosting a ceremony honoring a Medal of Honor recipient. 

The dedication of the Billie Kanell monument will begin at 1 pm on Sunday, April 16th at the Poplar Bluff Museum on Main Street. 

Kanell lost his life in Korea in 1951 and was awarded the nation’s highest honor for his bravery and sacrifice. Kanell’s Medal of Honor will be on display at the dedication ceremony.

CASTING FOR KIDS BASS CLASSIC COMING UP THIS WEEKEND ON LAKE NORFORK 

Lake Norfork in Henderson, Arkansas will be the home of the Casting for Kids Bass Classic this weekend. 

Registration for the fishing tournament will begin at 5:30 am Saturday at the Lake Norfork Marina. Boats will launch beginning at 7 am. 

Weigh-in will begin at 3 pm at the Henderson Recreation and Park Area.

DATE ANNOUNCED FOR OPENING OF WAPPAPELLO LAKE BEACHES 

The US Army Corps of Engineers has announced when beaches will open at Wappapello Lake. 

According to the Corps of Engineers Facebook page, all beaches at Wappapello Lake will be opening on April 21st. The date could change depending on the lake levels at the time. 

The Corps of Engineers have also said that the People’s Creek Lower Campground opened on April 7th.


REGISTRATION UNDERWAY FOR ADULT SOFTBALL IN POPLAR BLUFF 

Registration is underway for adult men’s and women’s softball in Poplar Bluff.

According to Poplar Bluff Parks and Recreation, games will begin in late May with the men playing at Hillcrest Park and the women playing at McLane Park. 

Today is the final day for teams to sign up and the cost to register is $350 per team.

EARLY CHILDHOOD RESOURCE FAIR SCHEDULED FOR THIS WEEKEND IN POPLAR BLUFF 

A resource fair for young children in Poplar Bluff will be held this weekend. 

The Silly Saturday Early Childhood Resource Fair is scheduled for 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday at the Black River Coliseum. 

The event is free to attend and there will be hands-on activities for kids up to the age of 8 as well as musical entertainment. Each child who attends will also get a free book. 

There will also be informational resources available for adults.
