ELLSINORE WOMAN FLOWN FROM THE SCENE OF A BUTLER COUNTY CRASH
An Ellsinore woman was flown from the scene of a side by side wreck Sunday afternoon in Butler County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 33 year old John Miller, of Poplar Bluff, was driving the vehicle on private property when it traveled into a ravine.
A passenger in the vehicle, 22 year old Mariah Pinnell, of Ellsinore, was seriously injured in the crash and flown to a St. Louis hospital.
Miller suffered moderate injuries and was transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital.
LONGTIME OZARK FEDERAL CREDIT UNION EMPLOYEE TO RETIRE THIS WEEK
A reception will be held this week to honor a retiring employee of the Ozark Federal Credit Union.
The OFCU is congratulating Kirk Mondy on his retirement after serving the credit union for 41 years.
The reception has been scheduled for 2 to 4 pm on Friday, April 28th at the OFCU Main Branch on Katy Lane in Poplar Bluff.
TRC MUSIC DEPARTMENT TO PERFORM THEIR ANNUAL MUSICAL THIS WEEKEND
The Three Rivers College Music Department is conducting the final rehearsals of their annual musical.
The students will be putting on multiple performances of the Pajama Game starting on Friday.
The musical is a comedic love story about a union strike at a pajama factory.
The shows have been scheduled for 7 pm on April 28th and 29th, as well as 2 pm on April 30th. All performances will be at the Tinnin Fine Arts Center with free admission.
APPLICATIONS BEING ACCEPTED FOR UPCOMING HIGHWAY PATROL RECRUIT CLASSES
The Missouri State Highway Patrol is accepting applications for their upcoming accelerated and traditional recruit classes.
Officials say that the Patrol is testing for new troopers and those who successfully complete testing will be eligible to continue in the selection process for the accelerated 119th recruit class as well as the traditional 120th recruit class. Both classes are scheduled to begin training on January 2nd, 2024.
All candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent and be 21 years of age upon graduating from the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy.
There are additional requirements to be eligible for the 15-week Accelerated Academy, such as possessing an active Missouri Class A POST license in good standing or being able to obtain one prior to the start of recruit training.

MONTH LONG SHOULDER REPAIR PROJECT UNDERWAY IN BUTLER AND STODDARD COUNTIES
Work is underway on a month-long shoulder repair project in Butler and Stoddard Counties.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, contractor crews are working on U.S. Route 60 from U.S. Route 67 in Poplar Bluff to Route WW in Dudley for the repairs.
Officials say that work will take place from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily through Wednesday, May 24, weather permitting.
POPLAR BLUFF OFFICIALS TO GIVE AWAY TREES TO CELEBRATE ARBOR DAY
Arbor Day is on April 28th, and to celebrate the holiday Poplar Bluff city officials will be distributing trees to area residents this week.
Poplar Bluff Parks and Recreation will be hosting a native tree give-away on Wednesday from 4 to 6 pm.
Poplar Bluff residents can stop by the Hendrickson Park Annex on North 13th Street to pick up a 12 to 18 inch native tree to plant in your yard.
