MAN ARRESTED IN CONNECTION TO STABBING IN BUTLER COUNTY

A man has been taken into custody following an alleged stabbing in Poplar Bluff.

According to the Poplar Bluff Police Department, shortly after 9 am on Friday, officers responded to the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center Emergency Room for a report that an assault victim had been dropped off.

An adult female reported that her husband had punched her in the face and stabbed her in the upper chest with what she believed was a pocket knife.

The suspect then took control of the truck and drove to the hospital. After the victim entered the hospital the suspect abandoned the truck in the parking lot and left the scene on foot.

Later Friday afternoon, 40 year old Ronnie Pullum, of Qulin, was arrested without incident at a residence in Rombauer.

Officials say that Pullum is facing charges of domestic assault 1st degree, armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon. He was lodged in the Butler County Jail.

TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO MULTIPLE ARRESTS

Continuing to follow a story out of Northeast Arkansas, a traffic stop has resulted in a bust for drugs, guns, and counterfeit currency.

Greene County Sheriff Brad Snyder tells KWOC News that after the arrest of Wanda Costner on June 14th during a traffic stop, further investigation led to the execution of a search warrant at a residence on County Road 846.

During the search, the 2nd Judicial Drug Task Force seized half of a gram of methamphetamine, 4.45 pounds of marijuana, 103 THC vape pens, two handguns, one of which was fully loaded, seven counterfeit $100 bills, and miscellaneous drug paraphernalia.

The search resulted in the arrests of 42 year old Scottie Costner, of Eastern Greene County, and 47 year old Bryan Pennie, of Paragould.

Scottie Costner has been charged with Possession of Schedule four Narcotics with Intent to Deliver, Simultaneous Possession of Drugs and Firearms, Possession of Firearm by Certain Persons, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Endangering Welfare of a Minor, 2nd Degree. Pennie was arrested on an absconding warrant from the Arkansas Department of Probation and Parole.

Snyder added that Wanda Costner is also facing additional charges of Possession of a Firearm by Certain Persons and Endangering the Welfare of a Minor, 2nd Degree.

RIPLEY COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS TO HOST FREEDOM FEST ON JULY 1ST

Multiple events will highlight Freedom Fest 2023 at the Ripley County Fairgrounds.

The celebration is scheduled for July 1st, with gates opening at 2 pm.

Organizers say that there will be a petting zoo, pony rides, bounce house park, escape rooms, a super slide, laser tag, and more.

The night will end with a performance by Confederate Railroad and a fireworks show.

Tickets will be available at the gate for $10, with children 12 and under getting in for free.

LADY RAIDERS BASKETBALL CAMP SET FOR JULY 5TH

There is still time to register for the upcoming Lady Raider Basketball Camp in Poplar Bluff.

The camp is set for 9 am to 1 pm on Wednesday, July 5th at the Libla Family Sports Complex.

There will be three different age groups from Kindergarten through 8th grade and the price will be $30.

Registration forms are due by June 26th to guarantee a correct t-shirt size for the camper. Walkups will also be accepted.

ROUTE 34 IN WAYNE COUNTY TO BE REDUCED THROUGH THE END OF THE MONTH

Route 34 in Wayne County will be reduced to one lane with a 10-foot width restriction through the end of the month as contractor crews perform roadside work.

The work zone is located from Route DD to Route 67 near Silva.

Weather permitting, work will take place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily through Friday, June 30th.

MULTI WEEK PAVEMENT REPAIR PROJECT TO BEGIN TODAY IN PEMISCOT COUNTY

Route 84 in Pemiscot County will be reduced to one lane with a 12-foot width restriction beginning today as construction crews perform pavement repairs.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, the section of roadway being reduced is located from Route 412 to Interstate 55 in Hayti.

Weather permitting, work will take place today through Monday, July 10 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
