POPLAR BLUFF MAN ARRESTED IN CONNECTION TO DEATH OF A CHILD
A Poplar Bluff man has been taken into custody in connection to the death of a small child.
Butler County Sheriff Mark Dobbs tells KWOC News that on Tuesday, 25 year old Dustin Mason was arrested on a charge of abuse or neglect of a child resulting in death.
Dobbs says that the warrant stems from an investigation by the Sheriff’s Office and the Butler County Children’s Division.
In October 2022, a less than two month old child was believed to have been shaken to the point that it caused the child to die.
Mason is lodged in the Butler County Justice Center on no bond.
PEDESTRIAN STRUCK BY A VEHICLE IN BUTLER COUNTY
A St. Louis man was struck by a vehicle late Tuesday night in Butler County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident occurred shortly after 10 pm Tuesday night when a vehicle that was traveling on Business US 67, a quarter of a mile south of Business US 60, hit 42 year old John Tayon on the roadway.
Tayon suffered serious injuries and was flown to a St. Louis hospital.
RIPLEY COUNTY MAN ARRESTED ON CHILD MOLESTATION WARRANT
Authorities in Ripley County have arrested a Fairdealing man on a child molestation warrant.
Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that 68 year old Carl Beckwith was arrested Tuesday afternoon and held at the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office.
According to Missouri Case Net, Beckwith is facing two counts of 2nd degree child molestation and 1 count of 1st degree endangering the welfare of a child creating substantial risk.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Beckwith admitted in an interview with investigators that he had inappropriately touched the juvenile victim.
Beckwith’s bond was set at $100,000.

BRIDGE MAINTENANCE SCHEDULED FOR TODAY IN NEW MADRID COUNTY
A New Madrid road will be closed today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform bridge maintenance on Route M.
The section of roadway being closed is located between U.S. 61 and County Road 421 near Marston.
Officials say that the project is expected to be completed today, weather permitting.
BRIDGE MAINTENANCE SCHEDULED FOR TODAY IN NEW MADRID COUNTY
Southbound Interstate 55 in Pemiscot County will be reduced to one lane with a 10-foot width restriction both today and tomorrow so contractor crews can perform pavement repairs.
The section of Interstate involved in the project is located from mile marker 17 to mile marker 14 near Hayti.
Weather permitting, work will take place from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
