POPLAR BLUFF MAN KILLED IN CRASH ON US HIGHWAY 60
One man is dead in connection to a crash involving a tractor trailer on US Highway 60 in Butler County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 49 year old James Ray, of Poplar Bluff, was driving on Highway 60 when he struck a tractor trailer in the rear and then traveled off the roadway.
The crash occurred at around noon, two miles east of Poplar Bluff.
Ray was transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital where he was later pronounced dead. No injuries were reported for the driver of the tractor trailer.
SOUTHEAST HEALTH COMPLETES MERGER WITH MERCY
A merger between one of the biggest health care providers in Southeast Missouri and one of the 20 largest health systems in the United States is now complete.
According to a release, SoutheastHEALTH has joined Mercy after receiving all necessary third-party regulatory approvals.
The first noticeable change for patients starts this week with the placement of new Mercy signage at locations across southeast Missouri.
Various SoutheastHEALTH hospitals are also being renamed including the Southeast Health Center of Stoddard becoming Mercy Hospital Stoddard. The two health care systems signed a definitive agreement in August for SoutheastHEALTH to become a member of the Mercy system.
OUTDOOR WARNING SIRENS TO BE TESTED TODAY IN STODDARD COUNTY
Stoddard County residents might hear their local weather sirens today.
According to the Stoddard County Emergency Management Agency, the Outdoor Warning Sirens in the Cities of Advance, Bell City, Bloomfield, Dudley, Essex, and Puxico will be tested at 10 am this morning.
Officials say that in the event of an active firefighting emergency in or near these cities or a threat of severe weather, the test will be postponed to a later date.
VEHICLE HITS TREE NEAR BLOOMFIELD, TEEN INJURED
A teenager was injured in a single vehicle crash Tuesday.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 16 year old girl was a passenger in a vehicle on Stoddard County Road 514, near Bloomfield, when the vehicle ran off the roadway and struck a tree.
The teenager received serious injuries in the crash and was transported by ambulance to a Cape Girardeau hospital. No injuries were listed for the driver of the vehicle.
MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN MOTORCYCLE CRASH NEAR CAMPBELL
A man was seriously injured Tuesday night in a motorcycle crash near Campbell.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 43 year old Robert Edwards, of Sikeston, was driving on Missouri Highway 53 when he attempted to avoid an animal in the roadway, which caused him to run off the road.
His motorcycle then overturned and ejected him.
Edwards received serious injuries in the crash and was flown to a Cape Girardeau hospital for treatment.
OVER 12,000 DEER HARVESTED DURING ALTERNATIVE METHODS PORTION OF DEER SEASON
Over 12,000 deer were harvested during the alternative methods portion of firearm deer season.
Preliminary data from the Missouri Department of Conservation shows that deer hunters in Missouri harvested 12,465 deer during the alternative methods portion from December 23rd through January 2nd.
Of the deer harvested, 3,130 were antlered bucks, 1,450 were button bucks, and 7,885 were does.
Last year’s alternative methods portion harvest total was 8,724.
