DONIPHAN R-1 CLASSES CANCELED FOR TODAY AND TOMORROW

School officials in the Doniphan R-1 School District have decided to cancel school for today and tomorrow due to the flooding in the area.

In a post on Facebook, officials said they hope this will help families and the community recover/clean up from any damages caused by this flood.

According to NOAA, the Current River in Doniphan is expected to crest below the major flood stage midday today.

MISSOURI YOUNG HUNTERS HARVEST OVER 13,000 DEER DURING EARLY YOUTH PORTION OF HUNTING SEASON

Young hunters in Missouri harvested over 13,000 deer this past weekend.

Preliminary data from the Missouri Department of Conservation shows that young hunters, between the ages of 6 and 15, harvested 13,923 deer during Missouri’s early youth portion of the 2024 deer hunting season which ran on November 2nd and 3rd.

Of the deer harvested, 9,852 were antlered bucks, 3,102 were does, and 969 were button bucks.

Last year’s harvest total for the early youth portion was 11,270 deer.

FINAL PUBLIC MEETING SCHEDULED FOR TODAY TO DISCUSS POPLAR BLUFF COMPREHENSIVE PLAN

A last of a series of meetings will be held today to discuss the city of Poplar Bluff’s Comprehensive Plan.

The meeting will be held tonight beginning at 6 pm at the Wheatley School.

LICENSE OFFICES TO BE CLOSED THROUGHOUT MISSOURI FOR UPGRADES

Missouri state officials say that upgrades will force the temporary closure of driver license offices throughout the state.

The Missouri Department of Revenue’s Motor Vehicle and Driver License division is preparing to deploy its modernized driver license and processing system at all license offices, with a launch date of November 12.

Officials say that installation of new equipment and the system conversion process for this vital upgrade will necessitate short license office closures.

Today, some license offices will be closed, however many will remain open for motor vehicle services only. Driver license services will be unavailable in all offices.

On Friday, all license offices throughout the state will be closed for system conversion.

The offices will then remain closed on Monday for Veterans Day before reopening on Tuesday.

KENNETT JOB CENTER TO HOST VETERANS CEREMONY AND RESOURCE FAIR

The Kennett Job Center will be hosting a Veterans Ceremony and Resource Fair today.

The ceremony will begin at 10 am at the Job Center. Officials say that food will be served immediately after the ceremony.

A Veteran Resource Fair will then follow from 11:30 am to 1 pm.

BRIDGE PROJECT UNDERWAY IN NEW MADRID COUNTY

Route P in New Madrid County will be reduced to one lane with a 14-foot width restriction today so MoDOT crews can perform bridge maintenance.

The section of roadway to be affected is located from Route BB to County Road 740.

Weather permitting, work will take place today from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
