POPLAR BLUFF MAN KILLED IN CRASH INVOLVING TRACTOR NEAR QULIN

A Poplar Bluff man was killed in a crash involving farming equipment Thursday morning near Qulin.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred when a vehicle struck the tractor from behind, crossed the center of Highway 53, and struck another vehicle.

The driver of the last vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

Butler County Coroner Jim Akers tells KWOC News that the deceased has been identified as 64 year old David Jones of Poplar Bluff.

The driver of the first vehicle suffered serious injuries and was transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION RELEASED ABOUT FATAL CRASH NEAR BLOOMFIELD

Authorities have released additional information concerning a fatal wreck from Wednesday night in the Bloomfield area.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 53 year old woman from Bloomfield was driving on Highway 25 when her vehicle crossed the centerline and struck another vehicle head on.

The driver of the first vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene by Stoddard County Coroner Brent Stidham.

The driver of the second vehicle received serious injuries and was flown to a St. Louis hospital.

Three juvenile passengers in the second vehicle received moderate or minor injuries and were transported to a Cape Girardeau hospital.

VETERANS DAY ASSEMBLY TO BE HELD TODAY IN FISK AND QULIN

Veterans will be honored during multiple celebrations today in Butler County.

The Twin Rivers Elementary and Middle Schools will be recognizing local veterans during Veterans Day assemblies in both Fisk and Qulin.

The events will begin at 9:30 am at the Qulin Middle School Gymnasium and at 1:30 pm at the Fisk Middle School Gymnasium. Officials say that community members are welcome to attend.

MAN ARRESTED ON RAPE CHARGE IN NORTHEAST ARKANSAS

A man is in custody in Northeast Arkansas on a rape charge.

According to a Probable Cause Affidavit, earlier this year 39 year old Dawayne Quinn was discovered in bed with a minor female.

During an interview, the female disclosed sexual acts that would constitute rape by statute.

Quinn was arrested by the Greene County Sheriff’s Office and booked into the Greene County Jail earlier this week.

KIDS TO ENJOY FALL TODAY AT POPLAR BLUFF TURKEY TUMBLE

Autumn is fully here and with the leaves beginning to turn and fall a special event is set for this afternoon for area children.

Poplar Bluff Parks and Recreation will be hosting the Turkey Tumble from 4 to 6 pm today at Hendrickson Park.

Parents are invited to bring their children out to tumble in piles of leaves and enjoy some hot chocolate.

POPLAR BLUFF ROTARY CLUB’S 14TH ANNUAL CASINO NIGHT AND MOUSE RACES SET FOR THIS WEEKEND

The Poplar Bluff Rotary Club’s 14th Annual Casino Night and Mouse Races is coming this weekend.

The event will be held from 6:30 to 10 pm on Saturday at the Poplar Bluff Holiday Inn Ballroom.

Tickets are $30 per person for single tickets or $25 per person for two or more.
